Biting

For the past three weeks D has been biting my nipple when he is done breast feeding. Instead of just pulling off he will bite down and then yank off the nipple. He does not do this when he is eating, only when he is done eating.

I've tried to predict when he is done eating and do the smoosh the face into the breast to make him release before he bites me. It doesn't work. 

Every time he does bite me, I sit him down some where safe and a little bit away from me while, no biting mommy.  Then I let him sit there for a minute by himself. Sometimes he fusses, mostly he does not care.

Any suggestions that do not involve me thumping my baby on the head :D?
