NWMR--We have MICE!

A week or so ago, I noticed little presents all around my dry goods tins. So I wiped them off (the were a little messy).

It didn't stop, so I moved the containers off the counters. I didn't see anything for several days and I felt like the mission was accomplished.

Then we went camping. And DS left a mostly empty bag of Doritos on our bed.

Apparently, we hosted a mouse party. It (or they) managed to move from their turf in the kitchen, under the dining room door and into the bedroom. They left little gifts all over the stove, the counter, the shelf where we now keep the jars, the kitchen towels, the silver set and--worst of all--OUR BED!

I think I know where the problem is coming from (besides the ill placed chips). There has to be a hole somewhere behind our kitchen radiator. I can't get back there though. All I can do is kill them and that is giving me nightmare. Literally, i had a nightmare on our camping trip that a giant hairy spider--about the size of a mouse--was terrorizing us and my husband did nothing to stop it.

Ugh. The whole thing makes me itch.

  • We had that issue several months ago. We put several traps in the basement in one in the pantry and caught them all. We had 5 or 6, some were babies. Don't worry about putting the traps exactly where they are coming in just put them in places where you have seen evidence and where your LO can't get to them. The mice will find the traps. I made DH deal with setting the traps and disposing of the mice. We caught all of ours within a week.

Last night, I came face to face with at least one of the mice. They are coming from a gap in my stove between the range and the clock. Ew. I probably scared it away because as soon as I saw it, I screamed and booked it out of there.

This morning I found one single turd next to the trap, but the trap was untouched.

  • Put peanut butter on the part that trips the trap. That way the trap interests them AND they can't sneak the food off without setting the trap.

This.  Cheese is easier for them to steal without setting off the trap.  Also, you can adjust the sensitivity on the traps to make them go off with less weight.  But be very careful when doing this.

  • We had mice a few years ago after moving into our new house. They made it upstairs thanks to our cats. My advice... get an exterminator. I didnt care how much it cost, it ws worth it to be rodent free. Get it taken ccare of asap by a professional.

My landlord/SIL said they'll be here in a week. Thank God!
