Trying to Get Pregnant

Pregnancy Symptoms but Negative Test

I have very sore nipples, bloating like a whale and I am in the bathroom frequently because I always (and suddenly) have to pee.  I am less than a week from my usual Aunt Flo visit, and I have taken several at home pregnancy tests with negative results.  These are not typical PMS symptoms for me, either. Should I wait a weekend re-test at home, or is it ok to make an appointment with my doctor for a blood test? I really want to know!

Re: Pregnancy Symptoms but Negative Test

  • Negative test means not pregnant. Have you been charting to know when you are ovulating?

  • If the test is coming back negative again and again, that means you are not pregnant. I'm sorry. Give it a week or so and see if AF comes and if not, re-test. A blood test won't do you any good.

  • It is not okay to go to the doctor for a blood test if you are a week away from your expected period and have gotten nothing but negative HPTs. Wait it out. It sucks, but we all have to do it.

    Best of luck to you.

  • Everyone here agrees that waiting sucks. :P I got a BFN on Thursday, but I'm still holding out hope. Hey, it's not over till AF shows up, right?! But I would urge against calling the doc at this stage. Take another test in a few days. FX for you!

  • I think what you meant to say is PMS symptoms. Don't schedule a freaking blood test until you're actually late. FFS.
  • I would schedule an appointment with your doctor. These symptoms can also mean that you might have an ovarian cyst. I would call your doctor and see what they would like to do.
