Sorry if this has been posted this week, I was actually busy at work and missed a lot. Although I didn't miss the self sono post - and thank god for that.
What is your recommendation for baby clothes? I've read not to buy too much in newborn size, so I'm trying to stick with 0-3 months. I am a fan of the onesie/pants sets but is that unrealstic on my part? As a FTM, will I just want to throw her in PJs and onesies most of the time and I shouldn't waste my time and/or money on 2 piece sets?
I was telling my husband that this little person is coming to live with us and we have NOTHING for her to wear, sleep in, play with, etc. So I'd like to get her something, lol

Re: STMs - Baby Clothes
It will depend on your baby how long she'll be in newborn clothes. I had to run out and buy more of them because DD was 6 lbs 7 oz at birth, so she was in newborn clothes and diapers for a while. If you get an u/s late in your pregnancy, you'll have more of an idea what size baby you're expecting, so you can judge from that how many tiny clothes to get.
I definitely had DD in pjs and onesies/pants most of the time when she was a newborn. Whatever is easy and comfortable since they sleep most of the time then anyway. Once the baby had more of a sense of daytime vs night, I started dressing her in night clothes and day clothes, but that wasn't until she was in 3-6 month clothes. Don't go too overboard on 0-3, because your LO will probably only be in those clothes for a few months. Feel free to get any cute clothes in any sizes for the first year, bearing in mind what season it will be when your baby is approx that age. And remember if you have a baby shower, that people love to buy clothes as gifts, so you won't have to supply the whole wardrobe yourself.
And I had a 7lb baby and she wore NB and preemie clothes!
I had more 0-3 and 3 months to start, but once DD was born I had to go buy more NB. She was 7 lbs 6 oz and after losing some initially she was 6 lbs and change.
I'd have a few NB on hand but not wash it all/take off tags, before you see how big LO is.
I assumed I would have a big baby and didn't get any newborn. DS was born st 7lbs 2oz and was under 7 when we left the hospital. We had to go out and get a few newborn things to last a few weeks. I would get a few newborn sleepers and maybe long sleeve onesies to have on hand.
DS was 6 lbs 8 oz so he was in newborn size clothes and diapers for a while. He was also a December baby so really what I used most were footted pj's. Even when we went out (which wasn't much because it was cold and snowy) I really kept him in those because they were cozy and comfty.
I do suggest getting the kimono style onesies if you can find them. I believe Gerber makes them. Honestly their little arms are so small and it's hard to get them in the long sleeves and over their heads. The kimono onesies were a gift sent from heaven! Especially when poop shoots up their back. The last thing you want to do is pull a onesie covered in poop over your baby's head.

I do not recommend buying very many NB size clothes ahead of time, but I would pack 2 coming home outfits in your hospital bag -- one NB size and one 0-3 mos. since you won't know LO's size till birth, this way you cover your bases. If the baby is on the smaller size, you can always get out to get NB clothes as needed once you get home.
DD was definitely in NB for a bit since she was 6lb 15 oz at birth, then dropped to 6lb 4oz by the time we were discharged. I had a few NB outfits and got a couple more to get us through till she gained some weight back.
The fit of baby clothes depends on the brand. According to the conventional wisdom, we hardly bought or received any newborn sizes for DS, who was over 8 lbs. at birth. But the 0-3 clothes were really too big in many brands, including Gymboree, Gap, and Children's Place, for 6 weeks or so. I'll definitely buy a few more newborn clothes this time.
DS wore a lot of onesies with pants (though not necessarily a set) when he was an infant. He was born in November, so it was pretty cold, and a onesie without pants didn't seem like enough. He also wore a lot of sleep 'n' play pajamas. Since we have snowy winters, he needed buntings and/or fleece jackets for going outside in his stroller.
