Re: nighttimes are hard

  • Sorry to hear that. The sleep monster is hard to cope with. For us it was our biggest challenge.

  • Sorry to hear things are bad at nighttime! I hope it gets better. A used to sleep soundly and almost never wake up from 2 months to 6 months and then she started to wake up multiple times... I don't know if you believe in CIO but we did it and it worked SO well - she now puts herself to sleep without even fussing 95% of the time and when she wakes up in the middle of the night puts herself back to sleep within minutes. Hope this helps!

I was thinking of doing CIO in the MOTN. M sleeps well overall but has woken up the past two nights so I give her four oz but don't feel that is a good answer. I wasn't sure if CIO applied to MOTN wakings . I used it for naps and bedtime and it worked!
  • Aw I'm sorry. Boy I remember LNCI days. Hopefully it's just due to teething or development right now. I bet it passes in a few days. Meanwhile, have lots of coffee on hand!

  • For K, she needs time to unwind before I lay her down. If she doesn't get this time, nights become a fight. On a sad note, K has been waking up crying with what I call baby nightmares. I get up, check on her, pat her belly, and she is right back to sleep. It breaks my heart though.

Shella, we did CIO primarily for MOTN wakings, as she would go down fine at bedtime, but wake up multiple times during the night and wouldn't go back to sleep without nursing. We realized she had associated nursing with falling asleep and afeter reading up on Ferber decided to try. The first night she cried 45 minutes in the middle of the night, the second night 10, and from then on she cries maybe once a week in the middle of the night for less than a minute, I don't even have time to get up and she's back to sleep on her own.

We used CIO for MOTN and it worked so well. And it was pretty easy - N responded very well to it and now he is back to STTN (usually 11-12 hrs without making a peep).

  • Our nights have also gotten progressively worse. Last night he was up every 45 minutes. I hope this passes quickly.

  • I thought we were past this stage as well but for the past week P wakes up 2-3 Times screaming and crying. If I rub his back he usually gies back down but I hope this isn't permanent..i've been tired all week and I have stuff to get done before school starts. With the heat it just adds to the exhaustion.  Hope you find relief soon
