I am a high risk patient, due to a short cervix and a coworker suggested I find a doctor associated with CHOP and if I go into preterm labor to deliver there, but it's kind of a hike to drive to CHOP. I'm afraid of not making it to the hospital in time. Is anyone aware of hospitals in the south jersey area that have a great NICU?
Re: Good NICUs in the area?
totally agree with the last poster - I'm a FTM pregnant with twins - we chose to go to Virtua because of the NICU just in case we need it. As a part of the "Parents of Multiples" class that we attended at the hospital we were able to go on a tour of the NICU and talk to the nurses. I was always nervous about my girls needing to be in the NICU, but after seeing everything and meeting some of the staff I was at such ease thinking that even if they need to go there, atleast they are in amazing hands. My girls are due in a few weeks - and so far it doesn't look like we'll need the NICU...but again...atleast I know they'd be well taken care of.
If you need a reccomendation to a dr that delivers there - I suggest Garden State OBGYN - its a big practice, but all the Drs are great there.
Hope this helps!
Great! Thank you. I am supposed to deliver there (it's my first pregnancy with this new OB/GYN group) and I wasn't sure how their NICU was. I haven't toured the hospital yet. It is about 45 minutes from where I live, but I have heard nothing but good things about the hospital.
My last delivery was at Kennedy in Washington Township and it was anything but a good experience.
I do not like cooper for ob
