This may be a weird question but did anyone else stop working or reduce their hours due to swelling in their legs and feet? I'm almost 34 weeks and doing pretty good (knock on wood) besides horrendous feet/leg swelling. It's incredibly uncomfortable. It's not just a little swelling, it's a TON!!! I sit at a desk all day and the water/blood (whatever it is) just pools in my legs and feet. My skin is so uncomfortable and the only thing that helps is elevating my feet. I can't even fit into flip flops, they leave indentation marks on my feet and I'm getting a rash due to my skin creasing and rubbing. I was just the OB and no protein in my urine, blood pressure is great so no preeclampsia....just pregnancy swelling and hot weather I guess....
I don't want to quit working completely but I'm thinking of reducing my hours to 30 a week so I can have more time to elevate them. Anyone else in a similiar situation? Or maybe I just need to suck it up and ride it out.... lol. TIA!
Re: Reducing hours due to swelling in legs/feet?
I really debated on it. I ended up on limited restriction now due to low fluid levels in one twin. Resting at home has made my swelling almost go away! I feel so much better. Do what you think will feel best for you. I also picked up some Nike sandals from Fred Meyer that Velcro over the top of my feet since I couldn't wear my shoes either. Good luck!! I feel your pain. Also, drink lots of water!
You are a champ to have made it working FT all the way to 34 weeks! I could have gone at least a couple weeks longer, but I was kicked out around 26-27 weekd for PTL. I was swelling pretty bad then and that was uncomfortable. It wasn't evern close to what you are describing though. If you are that uncomfortable and it's getting too hard to get around, see if your doctor will write you a note to reduce your work hours. If you want to suck it up, start drinking even more water to try and flush some of the excess out and see if there is a way to partially elevate your feet under your desk. Something like this might help:

It should help the pressure on your back a bit too.
