WDYT of Krisztina? It's the Hungarian form of Kristen/Kristin/Christina. It's a way to honor both my father's side [who are all Hungarian. Very Hungarian. My dad wasn't born in the US], and my mother Kristin. It's pronounced basically the same was as Krisztina, because the SZ in Hungarian is equivalent to the English S.
TIA!
Re: Hungarian name
Me too!
I like the tribute part of it, but she will definitely have to spell her name for everyone, always.
Any other common Hungarian names that you like?
Margo Krisztina
Alexa Kristin
Gisella Kristin
Ilona Krisztina
There's Erzsebet [my middle name], Mariska, and Rozalia...that's about it.
And if I did use Krisztina, it would definitely be a first name, not a middle name.
Same here. And most people are going to assume you just came up with a unique spelling. They won't know it is Hungarian. And will form opinions about you.
Personally, I like it. But, my name is Kry.styn.a (periods b/c of google) so I'm bias. I think your daughter would appreciate the connection. I like that my spelling is linked to my Ukrainian heritage. It's not 'youneek' to me because there are two Zs in the Ukrainian phonetic spelling of my last name, so I know it is a cultural and sound based Z.
My spelling does get side eyed sometimes, until they see my LN. So if you have a very English LN and your daughter doesn't "look" Hungarian to people then she might get a look.
I also like that it still has all the nickname potential of Kristina. I find the Ys in my name make almost any nn look weird.
