1) After he was weighed they went and got another scale because they thought it was broke.
2) They had to put him in size 2 diapers right away and he actually needed size 3 but they had to get them from the children's hospital next door.
3) While I was getting stitched up DH went to recovery with Josh. He told me that they basically did a tour of the hospital so that everyone could see the "record breaking" baby.
4) Some of the nurses wanted to call the news and there was a nurse who was contacting the department of health because they believe that he set the hospital record.
3) When my parents and other children came to visit us the first day DH went to meet them at the desk. When he got down there security started saying (loudly) "That's the father of the 15 lb baby". He had so many people come over to him and this continued our entire stay.
3) In the NICU they had NOTHING to fit him. Not only t-shirt/diapers but blood pressure cuff, oxygen censor, bassinet (they had to put him in the ones they use for twins).
That must have been a relief to get him out of there!
Sadie weighed that at 5 months old! They told me I was going to have a giant baby because of GD (I was diet controlled and never needed insulin) but she was only 8 and a half, and lost 25% of it the first 3 days.
Amazing. Were your other kids big babies too?
Yes, my first 2 were 9 lbs 13 oz each and my third was 11 lbs 10 oz
I have always been curious, when a big baby is born, do they continue to follow the growth chart in the high percentile or do they level off? I am just curious.
He has leveled off somewhat. He stays at the top (as did my other kids). For reference at his year check up he was 27 lbs 11 oz and 31.5 inches
WOW! How do we award you a prize? You must have been soooo uncomfortable at the end!
I was beyond uncomfortable by the end. I also think they had my dates off by over a week and a half but still they wouldn't budge and take him any earlier.
WOW He was already almost half the capacity of the infant carrier at birth! Insane!

Okay, I guess I missed the first post on this, but why was he in the NICU?nbsp; And woooow!nbsp; What a big boy!nbsp; I can only imagine how uncomfortable that must have been at the end.
He went to the NICU the following morning due to rapid breathing. They ended up diagnosing him with PPHN or primary pulmonary hypertension of newborn
Did I read that right??? 15 lbs? I hope I don't offend you, but for some reason, I thought your siggy pic was just a random photo. Seeing them in order is really cool.
Re: For those interested

Yes they were all cs
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."

You have quite a cute little guy!
They were thinking around 12 and a half. The ultrasound machines stop calculating after something like 11 and a half.
