Humping

My 27m old is obsessed with humping. She's usually in daycare but home for the summer while my husband is also off. She's humping all the time. It's a fight to get her to play or leave the house bc she just wants to hump. She even says "I humping". I know its normal, but its too much st this point. Anyone experience this!?

Re: Humping

  • Have you explained to her that this is something we only do in private- in her bedroom- when she's alone? Maybe tell her only when she's in her bed or something? And try time limits- "You have to come out of your room in 5 minutes"

  • I have explained its something to do in private ... She just keeps going. Eventually she stops, but it's never for very long!

  • I agree with PP about setting limits. When DS1 went through the worst of his humping phase I would remind him that it was private and to be done in his room only and if he didn't stop it was 123 and carried to his room and the door shut.

And this is going to sound nutty but DS1 tends to do it now when he's constipated, he'll even say he's trying to get the poopy out so it's something to consider. I'm trying to get him to use an alternate...strategy, but so far it's still his favorite.

  • No, it's def for pleasure. She could care less if we even notice she's doing it. She's zoned out in her own world when she does it. We don't make a big deal of it or laugh at her, we just say "what are you doing?!" "it's time to stop and play xyz intead" ... I'm gonna start bringing her in her room tho. See if that cuts down!
