16 weeks and growing fast

I would like to begin with I am thankful and excited for our little twinkies. However, I am only 16 weeks in and I'm looking and feeling VERY big and pregnant. Just looking for reassurement that others felt/feel this way and that it is possible and all will be ok, ie it is possible for our bodies to continue to stretch. I think I'm freaked bc I have a friend due 1week before me w a singleton and she's not showing yet, I on the other hand am not only showing but am fairly large, all belly on my 5 ft frame .....

Re: 16 weeks and growing fast

  • I believe with twins your belly will measure 4-6 ahead of what you really are. I don't think there's any way around the fact that with twins we're going to get big.

I'm 23 weeks now and measuring 28 weeks. I'm scared to see how much my stomach is going to grow!

  • Do yourself a favor and don't compare yourself to anyone pregnant with a singleton, whether it's in looks or how you're feeling....having two babies in there makes a HUGE difference! And yes, you will continue to stretch! It's crazy but our bodies do amazing things. I was looking back at some of my pix toward the end of my pregnancy and thought "wow, I can't believe I got that big!!" All part of the MoM fun;)

  • Oh I do feel your pain. I remember feeling "huge" then when I really started to show. It doesn't help when others start commenting everyday about your growth. Don't compare yourself to anyone. I will tell you it continues to grow and stretch beyond anything you can imagine. I am almost 35 weeks and just in the last 2 weeks have outgrown most clothes from massive growth. I have measured anywhere from 610 weeks ahead. Hang in there!!

  • I'm also 16 weeks...but I feel the opposite! I am in between my regular pants and maternity pants, but I keep thinking shouldn't I be bigger!? I "feel" big, but everyone keeps saying I don't look pregnant. Lol...I'm ready for that obvious bump!!

  • I'm just shy of 12 weeks and I am HUGE. I haven't fit in regular pants for weeks.

My pre pregnancy size is 5'3" and 135 lbs, and I am not a "rail thin" type but certainly was very fit (ran a marathon right before getting pregnant) and didn't have much of a belly.

Now I am ALL belly. I have gained 6 lbs, but I am also noticing my face and arms are very thin for me. So I think its all shifting to belly.

I suspect us shorter MoMs to be are going to be showing a lot sooner. But everyone is different, I have had friends with singles who barely ever looked pregnant and others who were enormous - didn't matter what size or height they were to begin with.

Would just be happy to know all is good. ALSO call me a jerk, but I have already started a "twin skin tummy tuck" fund. Oh yeah that is happening.

I grew a ton from around 15 to 22 weeks, had lots of growing pains and felt like I was gaining freakishly fast. Now, my weight gain has slowed a bit and I'm not so sore but strangers look me and think I'm full term with a singleton. I'm 27 weeks.

  • God to hear I'm not the only one! I'm sure my 5foot 125 lb starting point don't help. It's also super helpful to hear about the rapid growth from 15 weeks bc I feel like its crazy fast and sometimes I literally think I can feel my body cramping/stretching as these peanuts grow!!!! Amazing, exciting and a little scary all at once!
  • Measuring 6-8 weeks ahead is normal. I was measuring 8 weeks ahead earlier in my pregnancy, then 10 weeks ahead. I've continued to stay that way. I also have a couple of coworkers due 4 weeks ahead of me and have had them to compare to all this time. It seemed like it took them forever to show. You aren't alone. ;)
  • Yep, my "real" bump started to show around 15-16 weeks.  I'm now 22 weeks and measuring 10 weeks ahead!! Oh man! I keep wondering what I'm going to look like when it's "go time"...I imagine I'll be huge! But, as others have said, our bodies are amazing and can handle all of this!
