Busty ladies come in

Where do you buy your bras?

I'm in desperate need of some new ones. It's been twoish years since I've bought a bra that wasn't for nursing. All my pre G bras don't fit right so I need to suck it up and buy some. I 'was' a 42DD but who knows now, I need to be refitted.

I usually go to Lane Bryant and buy from their cacique line. Any other places I should look?

  • Victoria's Secret will size you and recommend bras.  I spent about 45 minutes there a while ago trying on bras, I don't know if the salespeople work on commission but they were very attentive and kept going back to get me different styles & sizes... I ended up with a couple very nice ones that fit well and made "the girls" look good!  (36DD here)

  • I just saw a commercial for a playtex new line. They seemed to be for busty women but in cute patterns. I actually saw them at Khols. I did not buy one but my BFF did, and she loved it. I am size 42D, and they had my size. I am not sure of all the available sizes, but I am sure you could look online. I usually end up buying more expensive bras becuase of the support needed, but I was impressed with the Playtex. I am planning on going back to try some one when DD is not with me.

  • I'm a 46J.  :(  I found this website with all sizes; they even have my size.  And they have a good return policy.

    This.

Before LO I was a 38DD and got everything at VS but their largest size is 42 DDD and I outgrew them during pregnancy. I went to a 38G and a 40J during nursing, so I've been ordering from Herroom for awhile. They are quick and have a good return policy.

I second VS, they were really great when I went in there last fall to be fitted.  I was really self conscious at first since I've gained lots of weight since having John, but the saleswoman was professional and friendly.  At that point I was a 36DD, too!  Now that I'm preggo, I'm pretty sure they won't have anything that fits me.  My nursing bra from John was a somethingF and that is even too small now.  I haven't been brave enough to go bra shopping this pregnancy yet.

I absolutely love Nordstroms. They will custom fit you and have you try on bra after bra after bra until they and you find one that works. They look them over when you try them on to make sure they fit in all places, including the ones you can't see. They will even alter them for you if need be to get the perfect fit and it's usually same day. I'm a 38DD, but they are a lot more south than they were before kids so they need more of a pick me up without being a padded or push up bra.

This is what I was going to say.  I love Nordstroms.  I'm a 36 DDD and always find something I like.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions.

I checked out the VS website and they don't have bras big enough, they stop at 40ddd or something like that. And the closest Nordstrom is over an hour from me. So I guess I'll look into the herroom website after I get fitted somewhere.

Apparently the universe wants to make it really difficult for me to find a good bra. ::sigh::

My current favorite lingerie store is Soma. They fitted me and special ordered the bras with next day shipping. I'm a 34G which they didn't carry in the store but they did have other G's in the store so I could check the cup size.
  • Nordstroms is always good for getting fitted in person.

I order mine online from figleaves.com. They have some online tutorials on how to measure yourself, etc. I think it took 1 or 2 returns for me to find the right size. But now that I know the size, brand, style that I like it's easy just to order when needed.

I'm a 30 FFF - so really ordering online is the only option for me since most stores don't carry a band size so small with a freakishly huge bust size.
