Ya know the sayings...*Baby Wyatt's birth story*

..."Good things come to those who wait" and the all famous one said on here so often, "Baby will come when THEY are ready"? Well as dumb as it may sound they are so flipping true.lol I gave up being frustrated at being overdue and dove into keeping myself busy by going fishing with my DH and kids, movies, etc. I just kept replaying in my head, "He will come when he is darn well ready to and there is nothing I can do to make it happen faster". Having that frame of mind seems to be what it took to convince my little guy to finally come out a day after I hit 41 weeks.

Tuesday morning while checking TB before taking my 3 kiddos to summer school I noticed that I was having steady timeable contractions. Figuring it would end in another false alarm I shrugged it off and went about my day. Around noon they got more intense and closer together. DH suggested I take our GSD's for a walk to see if they would go away or get worse. He figured it might help things along. Contractions steadily got closer together and stronger as the day went on so I said screw it and called my doctor directly to see what she wanted me to do since there was a good amount of pressure rolling along with the contractions and I didn't want to make a 6th trip to L&D only to get sent home. Around 2:30 p.m I got a call back saying for me to come in and that I was most likely in labor.

The L&D floor was full though so I was told that because my bag of waters was still intact and the fact that the nurses needed time to clear out a room I was to take my time which worked out since I needed to go pick my kids up from summer school and drop them off at my moms. Got that all done and after dropping my 3 excited children off at their grandma's my DH headed to the hospital. Got there at 5 and was settled into a room right away. Nurse checked me and found that I had made progress and was at 6 cm and 85% effaced. I was so happy to find out that I wouldn't be sent home. Didn't take long with walking around the room and doing some gentle squats to get things really moving and soon I was contracting every minute and a half and had made it to 7 cms.

I had originally planned on going all natural with no pain meds or anything but holy cats on fire I just couldn't get focused enough to not tense up during each contraction so I caved and got an epidural. I gotta say that it was the best experience in my life. Which is saying a lot since I'm terrified of needles and especially needles being inserted into my back.lol Nurse gave me staydol(sp?) before the anesthesiologist came in to do my epi and oh man did things get interesting then. haha I felt drunk but so relaxed and the anesthesiologist got my epi in with one go and soon I was laying back keeping my DH,best friend,Grandma and my mother VERY entertained.lmbo After getting the epi the nurse checked me again and we were happy to hear that I was 8cm and fully effaced.

At 11 p.m my DH ran to the gas station to grab some snacks and energy drinks for my grandma and best friend. He figured it would still be a while yet. Boy was he wrong.lol At 11:15 p.m while chatting with a nurse who had come in to check on me I felt this odd sense of urgency and pressure. All of a sudden the baby stretched out and POP! My water breaks loudly and soaks the bed. Within 2 minutes of that happening I went from 8cm to 10 and baby's head was right there. Poor nurses ran around like chickens with their heads cut off getting suited up just in case my doctor didn't make it..Few more minutes later here comes my DH sprinting down the hall into the room and no sooner he gets settled in the room my eyes about popped out of my head because I felt the urge to push and my doctor still wasn't there yet. O.O

Just as we were about to have the one nurse get ready to deliver my little guy my doctor came running in and after seeing that his head was already starting to make an appearance gave me the green light to start pushing. 7 pushes later at 11:47 p.m Wyatt Emanuel was born weighing in at 9 lbs and was 21 inches long. He was quite a bit bigger than we had expected but luckily I came out with what my doctor called a "scrape" and didn't need any stitches. I will admit that I had a heck of a time pushing him out and am so thankful for the epidural. I'm glad I got to experience 3 natural labor and deliveries and this one medicated one. Personally I believe that the epi allowed me to relax enough to let things move quickly along. Not sure how long you would classify my labor. If counting from the morning till when I had him it would be around 17hrs(I think),but if you count it from when I check into the hospital until birth it was just under 7 hrs. All in all it was an amazing experience that I'm glad happened since this is to be my last child.

I just wanted to share with you wonderful ladies a picture of my little guy along with his birth story and say that I'm not expecting/demanding well wishes and congrats. If it wasn't for this forum and the great ladies that frequent it,I would have been lost..You women are amazing :)
