Great Article about delaying solids until 6 months...

I do BLW and breastfeed O but regardless of what way you feed your child, this article from the LLL has a detailed explanation of why delaying the introduction of solids until 6 months is best.

I'm not bashing anyone for starting earlier or trying to start a debate. I just get frustrated that misinformation is so prevalent. I mean my own pediatrician told me I should start rice cereal at 4 months (I didn't). I'm sure many of yours did too so just wanted to put this out there for anyone who's interested.

I sent an article to my SIL about this (how it's recommended by the AAP, etc) and it started WWIII.

It culminated with my BIL threatening to punch DH (his bro).

    Good times.

Whoa. And all you were trying to do is help. Sad. People get so defensive about this kind of stuff!

  • At our 3 month appointment my doc said, "some people like to start cereal between 4 and 6 months". He never specifically suggested that I do that.

At our 4 month he didn't say anything. And at our 6 month appointment he asked what LO was eating.

I replied, "pretty much whatever we eat". He asked if we did cereal. I said no. He didn't care.
