I do BLW and breastfeed O but regardless of what way you feed your child, this article from the LLL has a detailed explanation of why delaying the introduction of solids until 6 months is best.
I'm not bashing anyone for starting earlier or trying to start a debate. I just get frustrated that misinformation is so prevalent. I mean my own pediatrician told me I should start rice cereal at 4 months (I didn't). I'm sure many of yours did too so just wanted to put this out there for anyone who's interested.

Re: Great Article about delaying solids until 6 months...
Whoa. And all you were trying to do is help. Sad. People get so defensive about this kind of stuff!
At our 3 month appointment my doc said, "some people like to start cereal between 4 and 6 months". He never specifically suggested that I do that.
At our 4 month he didn't say anything. And at our 6 month appointment he asked what LO was eating.
I replied, "pretty much whatever we eat". He asked if we did cereal. I said no. He didn't care.
