I just left my OB's office after going in to get checked for leaking amniotic fluid. I won't leave you hanging: everything is perfectly fine. However, the nurse made me feel like an absolute moron for even asking to be seen, and I'm wondering if I was being overly paranoid. I realize that discharge is normal in pregnancy, but I was having regularly mucus-type discharge (sorry if that's TMI) accompanied by some kind of watery substance that I had never had before. It didn't smell like urine, and the only other thing I could think of was amniotic fluid. Even though I was pretty sure it wasn't that, I couldn't stand the thought of NOT getting checked out in case there was something wrong. I think I did the responsible thing, but the nurse was especially short with me and even rolled her eyes after the doctor did the "feather test" (takes about 5 seconds) and announced that it wasn't amniotic fluid. Was I being paranoid and wasting their time?

This this this. So this.
It's a shame that nurse treated you that way and made you feel like you were wasting their time. I think some of them forget or don't know that pregnancy can be a very scary thing and even if they have heard that concern a billion times it's the first time you are asking it. You did the right thing and you had every right and good reason to go in and get checked out. I am glad that everything turned out fine!
I completely agree with you. (I think twatwaffle is my new favorite name to call someone. lol.) But it is always better to be safe than sorry. I would rather go to the doctor's for something that turns out to be nothing than not go to the doctor for something that could be serious.
