? About Swim Lessons for Baby

So this is totally random but we are about to move to a new house and I want to get my son into a new swim lessons class. He is 16 months currently and we just did the baby and me class but he didn't really learn to do anything. He already loves the water but I wish I knew what kind of class they give that can really teach him the basics. I know he is super young but having a dog and soon to have a pool I want to take all steps necessary to make sure he is always safe. Granted yes I know he won't be outside without me, but you never know between a sitter or even DH for the what if situations. Can anyone recommend swim classes for babies?

Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born. 

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

    I do the mommy and me too and there is not a lot of techniques taught too but at the same place they offer one on one with an instructor to help advanced kids. Does your school have something like that?

    i just do classes through the parks and rec program. Ours does offer private lessons too for an additional fee. Maybe something like that would give you more focus for your son.

    We did mommy and me through our local rec center. I'll definitely check them out for private lessons. Thank you

    If you want him to learn the skills I think you may want s somthing more like 'infant self rescue'. I wish they had an instructor in my area. When I taught swim lessons kids didn't really start to pick up the skills until closer to three.

    I will definitely look that up! Thank you! Everything I find around me is for kids 3 and up or the only other option is mommy and me. So I am going to keep looking.

    The swim center we go to offers the option of private lessons in addition to group. Maybe that is an option and you can specify the skills you are looking for to be taught?

    Married in 2/2006, TTC since 3/09 with Endo stage 4(DX 1999) and PCO (DX 2010), DEC, LAP and 2 rounds of Depo Lupron

    • 2/10: IUI #1: Clomid 100mg= BFN
    • 3/10- 5/10: IUI #2 Clomid 150mg; IUI #2.2: gonalf, lupron; IUI #2.3: 2 rounds of 5mg Femara=All cancelled for nonresponse
    • 6/10 -IUI#2.4: gonalf, ganirelix, estrace, ovidrel, endometrium- early M/C
    • 8/10- IUI #3: gonalf, ganirelix, ovidrel, estrace, endometrium, lovenox, hcg boosters= BFP;  Beta#1=179, Beta#2= 360, Beta#3=1775; 1 perfect little HB!
