Middle name Renee?

Struggling for a middle name for our baby Leah. My husband just proposed Renee and I think I like it. Do you think it's dated though? And would people know it's pronounced "re-nay" and not "re-nee"? Opinions?

Leah Renee "G-air-ick" (last name spelled differently but sounded out here)

Re: Middle name Renee?

  • I like Renee for the middle name. If you're worried about pronunciation, you could add an accent.

  • I'm very biased, Rene' is my maiden name.

It's also my DD's middle name

  • i think Renee is a filler middle name, like when you don't know what to mn your child you throw that in there. its in the Marie, May, Lee, Jo, Sue, etc. overused middle name category IMO

ETA: unless its a family name you are namesaking after, then its perfectly acceptable

  • I think it is perfect, and doubt she would run into any pronunciation issues at all.
  • I don't think it's dated

I think most normal people will know how to properly pronounce Renee

    Same here.

My parents chose Renee as a way to honor my aunt (whose middle name was Rae) and my grandmother (whose nickname was Renie). Plus, there was significance to the meaning of the name in conjunction with my first name.

To be honest, I've only met 2 other girls of/around my age who had the name Renee as a first/middle name.

I've always been partial to it.

My middle name is Renee and nobody in my life has ever said it "Ree Nee".

The only time I've heard the "Ree Nee" pronounciation is as a nickname for Maureen.

  • I don't think you will have pronunciation issues. Leah Renee flows well but Renee does feel dated to me.
