just curious. I have one 1 hr meeting w/ my boss a month. If something important comes up I can request another meeting (in person or on phone) but I try to keep that to a minimum and not overdo it so that when I request it, my boss knows that it is really important. It is not a situation where I can stop into the boss's office or ask for a couple minutes later b/c I never know when s/he is actually in and have to go through the assistant (plus I'm relatively new to the job and feeling out the culture & protocol on this type of thing). I try to email questions that can be easily answered but sometimes it ends up being something that requires a meeting or call & I feel bad about that... I don't think it really makes my boss mad, but maybe frustrated, though I feel frustrated as well, since I have never been in a position where my boss was not relatively easily accessible at least some of the time. I do try to save things up for meetings as much as possible & have started emailed pertinent documents the week before a scheduled meeting all at once to make some of it more manageable but just curious about how others deal w/ this type of thing...
ETA I may not have made sense here...I feel like one hour a month is pretty low for someone in their first several months or even year at a totally new job, so I'm struggling w/ balancing not bugging the boss too much w/ things vs not feeling like I can get it all in via email & 1 hour.
Re: frequency of meetings w/ your manager/boss?
Edited, I think I was not clear in my OP.
I'm not complaining about having 1 hr meeting a month as if it is excessive ...it is much less than I'd like... Meeting every day seems like kind of a lot esp after maybe 2 weeks but I just am struggling w/ my lack of somewhat easy access and feeling the need to save up everything I want to discuss to squeeze into an hour. It has been one monthly hour meeting since the month I started...
Personal blog
Pinterest: LO ... somedayI went from having super easy access (drop on by whenever!) to having to seriously hunt someone down after staffing changes. Even if I schedule a meeting with my boss, he either (a) reschedules 1289372 times, (b) forgets, (c) gets caught in another meeting, or (d) isn't fully checked in when we do have a meeting.
I feel your frustration - have you voiced it to your manager??
We try to meet every Monday from 12-1 but we probably only meet 75% of the time due to one of us being out or conflicting meeting popping up.
Different situation here in that he doesn't do what I do so he really isn't a big help most of time when it comes to day to day stuff. I only need him if its about budget, staffing or management issues.
