Anyone have/use an e-reader? I have an old school original nook and was thinking of upgrading. I want something smaller, and not ipadish - i like the e-ink feature. Anyone have a rec between the newer kindle and newer nook?
I have an older kindle but it has the e ink feature and I really like it. Plus the amazon library of kindle books is pretty nice and if you have amazon prime you can borrow certain books for free.

This. I love my old-style Kindle, and I love the e-ink. We went to Hawaii, and I could read my Kindle no problem on the beach with the sun shining, etc. DH couldn't read a book on his iPad, though, too much glare. I read so much more than I used to!
I have the original nook too and have been thinking of upgrading. I am leaning towards the backlit nook....we have an ipad and I just don't like reading on it. If you stay with nook you will still have access to you current library.
I have an older Kindle and a Kindle Fire. I loved the Fire before I finally got a smartphone, now I almost never use it because I can do all that on my phone. I still use my original Kindle for reading. It's got a very limited browser to that uses the free Whispernet instead of WiFi. No color or video like the Fire, but I like it.
My mom adores and swears by the Kindle PaperWhite. I like that its like the original paper looking Kindle and can also backlight at night. My stepdad loves his Nook and my dad and stepmom love their ipads.
I have both the Simple Touch without backlight and the Nook HD. I found I wasn't reading on the ST as much anymore because of the Nook app on my phone. It is easy to read on. I got the HD for Mother's Day, and I'm really liking it. Easy to download library and even Kindle books with the app so I always have something to read on there.
I have the original Kindle and I like the e-ink. However, since I read a lot in bed, I just use the Kindle app on my iPhone so I don't wake up DH. The two sync, so if I stop reading on a page in my Kindle during the afternoon, when I pick it back up in bed, the iPhone app knows exactly where I left off.
I have the kindle paper white and I love it. I don't need as browser or games, I can do all that on my iPad and phone. The paper white is light and is great out in the sun or in bed in the dark. I have prime too so you can borrow books with it but I haven't found a whole lot that I like. Amazon local does offer vouchers all the time for discounted books, I got the whole James Bond library for $1 a book.
if you can download your nook books to your computer I tnkthey canbe added to your kindle. If not the same format there are converters out there that are easy. I converted all of my iBooks to kindle books when I first got it and it works great.
the booked you convert won't be available in the cloud if you use kindle cloud reader or on your iPad or something, but I never use that feature so it's ok for me.

I love our Kindle Fire HD, they have a deal on Amazon for $169 right now. It's nice to be able to rent some books for free with Amazon Prime too.
I have Prime, how do you do this?
their selection of booker you can borrow is really limited. I think on the page fore the book you want there's a "borrow this book" button. I've only seen it once so I don't remember exactly. The amazon local deals on books is great though, I'd check that out.

Hopefully you can login to your Amazon account from there - easier than typing it all out haha, I haven't borrowed any myself but my fiance does it all the time, sorry should of included that - I mostly just use Amazon for surfing the web and FB, larger screen is much better than my phone. Let me know if that link doesn't work for you though.
