MoMs that answered my questions about cloth diapering earlier this week

I have some more for you. I also posted them on the CD board.

  1. What detergent should I use? I bought Tide original powder. I have read good and bad things about it but it is one that is readily available to me. I have a Kenmore front load HE washer.

2. How do you wash your diapers? I have read so many different opinions on wash cycles that I'm afraid I won't do it right. I know eventually I will probably have my own system but I would like to have somewhere to start.

3. Do you prep MF and bamboo inserts with detergent? I know to prep them separately.  I have 6 BG freetimes, 2 BG 4.0s, and several Alvas/Kawaiis on the way.

    I didn't answer your previous thread didn't see it, but my two have been in cloth since birth...1. I did the makeyouown at first. It sucked for us. Diapers never really got clean. Then I used the BG brand detergent, again, I wasn't a fan. I love Tide original powder. It works great for us.2. We have a top loader. I do a cold rinse first, with no detergent. Then I add Tide to the 3 level marker and run hot 'heavy duty' load with an extra rinse at the end. I do full loads about 24 diapers plus cloth wipes.3. Personally, I did the first prep wash with detergent. MF is ready after one wash. I did the rest of my bamboo/natural fabrics 45 more times without detergent.I use BG 4.0s and Kawaiis mainly.nbsp;nbsp;

    Thank you!
