Finding the Humor

One positive thing about all these MIL issues I'm having is that now that there's this big looming issue (the pills), all the small ones I have with her seem so trivial. Instead of getting mad, they just make me laugh now. I thought I'd share some MIL gems from this weekend so far. Keep in mind she got in yesterday afternoon and I have been at work all day today, so these are from maybe a 4 hour time slot:

1. Upon entering the guest room at my house she immediately yells from upstairs "Where are my pillows?!?! I bought down pillows for this bed and they're not here! I have to have down pillows!!" They were in the closet....

2. After entering the guest bath with a brand new TP roll on the rack: "There is no spare TP in here! I always seem to have to buy something when I stay here". Ummm...we have more downstairs.

3. After explaining how much crap I have to do for K's party this weekend, I get him down for a nap and ask MIL and her friend to just stay at the house with him sleeping while I run errands. I explain how stressed I am and how much I would appreciate it. They agree and, on my way out, MIL hands me a list of stuff she "needs" from the grocery store for her special diet. Weird stuff like cottage cheese and cream of tartar and lemon zest.....so annoying and hard to find! It took me almost an hour and I didn't get half my errands done!

4. And for the best one...... She has gained a bit of weight and was talking to me about it when we were out for lunch. In the middle of Mellow Mushroom, at peak lunch hours, she proceeded to stand up from our booth, lift her shirt up until we could see the bottom of her bra, grab her stomach fat, and jiggle it and VERY loudly say "Look at all this jiggle! I didn't use to have all this jiggle!" So mortifying!

She is so unique.
