Currently I have an infant car seat. My son is almost 9 months so i'm not sure when I should switch to a convertible car seat (I think thats the next one i'd get?) Any suggestions?
I got the Diono Radian 120 so he can use it all the way through. I love it, I have a small car and it fits great in the middle. Its sturdy and easy to install, its no problem to move it to DHs jeep.
Carseats get outgrown by height and / or weight - you will need to check your carseat to find out the weight limits but height is GENERALLY outgrown when their head is an inch from the top (legs can be hanging over - no issue)
Convertible carseats can be tricky - you want one that fits your car, your child and your budget - car-seat.org or carseats for the littles (facebook group) are excellent places to start.
a few notes - all carseats have to pass the same safety standards and thus are the same "safeness" - but a few have poor fits and weird rules.. but all in all there is no "best" option for everyone.
We just made the switch and DS loves his convertible seat. I bought it a few months ago and went back and forth over installing it because I love the convenience of the infant seat but with this heat and how heavy he is I figured it was time he is still within the height and weight limits. We have the foonf by clek and I love it. DS is in the 97th percentile for height so I went with a seat for taller babies because I want him rear facing as long as possible. We will probably get another for DHs car or go with the radian.
