Babies on the Brain

Are baby classes worth the money??

At our first appointment, DH and I received a bunch of information on the hospital along with some classes. I would really like to take some of them, but DH isn't sure they're worth the money. Just wondering if you and your DH will be taking any classes or if you have, did you find them useful.

  • Baby classes like, birthing and breastfeeding, or how to change you baby's diaper?

  • We took a childbirth class and a newborn care class, and will be taking a breastfeeding class and infant CPR class in the next two weeks. Personally I think they've all been helpful.

  • The classes that I wanted to take was breastfeeding prep and a general birthing class.
  • We are taking a Bradley class, but that's all that is planned so far.  I might take infant/child CPR just to brush up since my certification expired in 2007.

  • I would do it. It's a stressful enough time - I'd want to go into it having some kind of idea what to expect.

  • I'd take the childbirth class but maybe skip the BFing class and read Nursing Mothers Companion instead. Check with your insurance company too, they might reimburse the cost of it.
