Care Package for FTD

Hello ladies!

So I was wanted to send my DH a care package that is baby themed. He is deployed and wont be back until after the baby is born, so I wanted to get him fun stuff to "prepare him." I already sent him 2 books about babies and FTD, and I sent him a few articles on how to support me while breastfeeding ;) I was thinking about sending him a baby doll and diapers to "practice" changing diapers, maybe a bottle and brush so he can practice cleaning... just funny time stuff to get him excited (but I do want him to practice the diaper thing haha) I need some more ideas though! I am also going to make a Daddy emergency basket that has candy, instant coffee, gift card to a restaurant that delivers, wipes, etc. But he wont get that until he gets home. I just need ideas for what else to put in that care package to "prepare" him and get him excited.

Re: Care Package for FTD

  • My DH was deployed for the majority of my pregnancy with DD so I can understand. I hope yours gets to come home soon!

My DH loved getting onesies with his favorite sports team, a special picture frame with an ultrasound in it, and a toy dog that he could record his voice in for DD when he left again.

Honestly, I think my DH would have been offended if I sent a doll and diapers to practice. Like I didn't trust that he could do it with our own child. The books are a great idea and help him be involved without making him feel inadequate.

  • You could send him a kids book that he can record himself reading. You can get them at hallmark :

  • Your care package is such a great idea.  There is a book that someone gave my husband that he thought was funny.  I found it n Amazon.

  • There is a really funny hard back book called how to dad and it is hysterical. It's meant as a joke, but look for it, it has DO and DON'T pictures.

If he can send it back I would go with this.  We have one from my mom and my LO loves it!  It would be nice for the baby to hear his voice while he is away.

p.s. similar to previous posters, I give my utmost admiration to military families.  thank you.

  • Can you record the baby's heartbeat while at the doctors office and send it to him or film the ultrasound so he can watch it too?  My other thought is sending him Jim Gaffigan's new book, "Dad is Fat."  My DH and I just finished reading it and it was hilarious!
