Taking pictures....

Ok bumpies- help me out!

I seem to never take any pictures of DD other than with my iphone. I just seem to forget about it. I have great intentions and even bought a very expensive but awesome SLR camera purposefully to take portraits of the wee one. I just don't ever seem to use it! (it's bulky and I'm afraid to leave it sitting out since it's expensive and we have cats who like to push things off tables...)

For example: I got stickers for DD to mark each month of the first year. I used the 1 month ones but haven't used the others. Yesterday was 5 months for DD and I did take pictures of her in the bath but, again- only with my phone, and only because her hair made me laugh.

I am also crap with getting them printed or into books. (I was married in Oct 2010 and still don't have any pictures printed out so this isn't limited to DD.)

What do you guys do to get pictures taken? And do you have them printed!?

I need suggestions that aren't too time consuming. I had one friend tell me I should scrapbook.... ummm...with a 5 month old? When?!

Re: Taking pictures....

  • 90% of the pictures I've taken of DD have been on my iPhone.  It takes pictures comparable to my camera (grant it I don't have a super nice camera) and it's convenient because I have it on me all the time.  I upload them to shutterfly and then arrange them in photo books.  Shutterfly has an option where it will automatically arrange them in a photo book for you and all you have to do is buy it.  the one thing I do to make sure I have nice pics of her is that once a month around her month b-day I set aside time to take pictures of her outside and in cute outfits.
  • I print pictures from my iPhone on the Walgreens app. It's not as good of quality as the SLR, but at least I have pictures of DD printed out.

I typically upload then while nursing

  • Our "real" digital camera broke right around when DD was born. We used it to take pics in the hospital and that was about it. Since then, we've only used our iPhones. I used to really be into taking pictures of everything, but not anymore. Right now I don't see the need to get a new camera, so our phones work for us. I just upload the pics on the computer, save them to a flash drive, and take the flash drive to Wal-Mart to get them printed. The only thing is that the quality of some of the prints isn't great.

I take pics of her a lot since I always have my phone with me, but getting them printed is another story. I have pics from birth-2 months printed out. I've taken dozens since then, but I just can't seem to find the time to get prints made!

  • I take 99% of my pics on my iPhone also. I have the shutterfly app that I use all the time and every couple of months I do a photo book on their website. I usually wait for the coupon for a free 8x8 photo book. And like once a month or so, they send out a promo code for 101 free 4x6 inch prints- which I just check them right off my phone. :-) love the app!!!!

Like PP said, I set aside time on her monthly birthdays to take pictures.  I use Shutterfly for prints and for photo backup.

I had no idea there was a Shutterfly app.  You just saved me an insane amount of time uploading pics from my phone to DH's crappy computer!

The app is great but I have learned not to order my prints from it. Not only can you not use free codes from it but it doesn't print the date the picture was taken on the back. If you order it from a desktop or laptop computer it prints the date the picture was taken. It's great when the iPhone doesn't give you dates that pictures were taken. But to upload the pics the app is great! Sorry mobile bumping.

  • I upload my iPhone pics to an app called mPix and order prints all the time. So easy!
