When it rains I guess it pours...I just got a call from the lab where my RE sent the tissue from my D+C to be tested as well as my husbands blood since we have to go though genetic karyotyping now as this is our third loss. Here is why I am mad:
1) THe tube with husbands blood was dropped and now has to be redrawn- Not only was it dropped but it was drawn about 2 weeks ago, why are they just contacting my RE now?
2) They state the wrong fluid was put into the tissue from my d+C and now can't be processed by them. Our last loss was a chromosomal abnormality so we were counting on this information to help the RE and genetic counselor move us forward.
My RE is currently dealing with their rep....

Re: How would you ladies handle this? (xp)
I'm so sorry! I have no experience with this but someone would be flipping responsible. I would deal with my RE's office and ask them how to handle the situation. You want them to be able to do some testing regardless. And if not they would be handling alllllllll charges associated thus far and after to get the same information for you guys. Good luck
Sorry I just saw you say your RE is dealing with the Rep. Since they are the ones or the hospital who took the specimens they should definitely be responsible.

OMG. I don't know. The issue with your DH's blood does not seem like a huge deal, but issue #2 does. Do they still have the remains so they could get the correct sample? Or is this even possible at this point?
May hugs. I had something similar happen to me--I had IUGR with my LO. I asked my OB to have my placenta sent off to be tested to see if it was damaged, etc.. She didn't. Why? I don't know. That was vital information I lost forever and could be important in future pregnancies if I am ever so lucky.

May 2014 January Siggy Challenge:
Honestly? I'd probably sit down and cry. And then I'd probably be on the phone screaming and yelling and a whole bunch of people and then I'd probably talk to the RE about what the new plan is.
I'm so sorry they screwed up the tissue sample.
