never ending rash

I dont know what to do for dds bottom, since she got this diaper rash after drinking cows milk it just wont go away. Her pedi prescribed a specially made rash cream which we have been using religiously for a week now, and since the diarrhea finally stopped shes been spending as much time as possible out of her diapers to air her out a bit. The blisters are gone and the sores are almost gone, but she still has this horrible rash. I told dh to take her to the pedis office tomorrow and have it looked at since I keep getting told to do what I am already doing and it isnt seeming to help. I just dont know what else to do for her! Anyone have any tips that we can try along with whatever her pedi says tomorrow, assuming they dont just tell dh what they keep telling me over the phone.

When did her diarrhea stop? If it was recent, then hopefully that change will help. DD had a terrible diaper rash when she was discharged from the NICU. It was caused by runny poop from her formula. We ended up being referred to a pediatric dermatologist at Duke for it. Anyway, they recommended as much bare bottom time as possible. When we did diaper her, we were to fan her butt before applying triple paste. The rash was wet, so the cream normally wouldn't stick. They also prescribed a specific OTC ointment that acted like rubber cement and allowed the area to heal. I hope she feels better soon. It is so hard to see them in pain!

The diarrhea stopped saturday, We have been letting her go without a diaper 1520 mins between diapers and then when i get home from work shes out of her diaper until she takes her last nap, usually an hr unless she gets her about to poop face. I will try fanning her bottom before cream too. Maybe Im expecting it to heal to quickly after the diarrhea stopped? She has had a couple minor diaper rashes in the past that cleared up in a day or two, so i thought this one would be the same way after the diarrhea stopped since they prescribed the cream we are using. Dh is still going to take her to the pedi today to have it checked. I just hate how raw her bottom looks and that its been like this over a week now.

  • Have you googled yeast diaper rash? DD just had one and despite using triple paste at every diaper change for 2 weeks it wasn't getting better. We had to use an anti fungal 3x a day and in about 3 days it started healing and after a week it is cleared.

Could it be yeast? nbsp;If it's not going away, that's making me think yeast rather than something else, and you'll need something different to help clear that up since regular cream won't cut it. nbsp;Hopefully the pedi can figure out what it is and give you something to help her out!

Dh did not take her to the pedi or even bother calling today, he said its clearing up now, but I cant get her to stay still long enough to check for myself. He's gonna be big time in the dog house if its not once I get this littke rascal to let me look.

So her rash is clearing up, apparently I jumped the gun worrying since its almost completely gone now.
