Scheduled c-section anyone?

Hi Ladies,

I had a csection with my first lo & I would love to have scheduled csection baby #2. I mentioned to my dr and she said she recommends waiting to go to natural labor. Does anyone plan of having a scheduled csection?

Re: Scheduled c-section anyone?

  • Had an emergency c-section with my first and I'm having a planned c-section with my second. None of my providers batted an eye when I said I wanted to go with a c-section again. In fact, a couple nurses even said "Yep, I'd do the same thing too".

  • I am having a scheduled repeat c-section. I had a very rough first delivery where I ended up in the ICU. I don't want to take the chance of having a uterine rupture. I want to have a planned day to go in and have a "normal" c/s where I'm actually concious.

My town just made vbac legal this last year so I feel like the Dr.'s aren't as seasoned at those deliveries too.

It's a personal decision and I don't think there is a right or wrong choice. My Dr. actualy recomended a repeat c/s.

  • I will be having a scheduled c-section with this LO.

  • I will also be having a scheduled C-section for this LO. I had complications with my first and there isn't a chance in hell that I would attempt regular delivery with this LO because of that.

  • My daughters were both breech (I have a heart shaped uterus that makes breech babies) so this last one will be a repeat c/s as well. I really wanted to try for a VBAC last time, but now that I've had two already, and so close together, it is safer for the baby and me to just schedule it. Bonus, I am due Dec 19th and a scheduled c/s means I will be out of the hospital before Christmas and get to enjoy it with my family.

  • My doctor said for sure I should schedule a C-section for the 2nd for 39 weeks. If I went into labor earlier, then she would do the C-section then. I think there is less risk of rupture if you are not in active labor. I had him on the scheduled date and it was a very easy C-section.

  • I think in totally opposite...I had a section with my second and am still bitter about it to this day. I actually have chosen a different hospital to deliver at that allows VBAC's. I was lucky to heal fast with my section but the recover then from vag birth compared to section was so much better. There's a chance I could still end up with another csection, but am so happy I'm getting a shot at vbac.

  • I had an induction and 24 hr labor that ended in csection. DS was almost 9 lbs. my doc gave me choice of repeat c or vbac. I will be having a c at 39 weeks.

  • I will be having a repeat csection at 39 w, 1 d if she doesnt come on her own before then.  She is my third (I had a regular birth with my first and a csection with my second) so who knows when she will arrive.

  • My doc said the hospital won't let them schedule c sections for non medical reasons

  • I'll be scheduling my repeat c-section at 39 weeks. If I go into labor sooner, I will go in for a c-section then.

  • I'm a FTM and I am having a schedule c-section. It wasn't my choice, but due to some complications my doctor doesn't want me to go into labor. I'm a little nervous about it since it is major surgery, but I know women have them all the time.

  • This is #3 for me. I had C-sections with #1 & 2. #2 was a scheduled C-section, this one will be the same.

  • This is baby 3 for me. 1 was an emergency csect, 2 was a scheduled csect at 39wks and this baby is scheduled for a csect at 39wks as well. Two reasons that vbac was not an option for me
    1. Due to the complications of my first labor, I had a vertical incision which is more likely to rupture.
    2. I lost a full term nephew during an attempted vbac. SIL went into labor at home and during the 25 min drive to the hospital her previous incision ruptured and baby died in the womb and SIL was in critical condition for quite some time.
Emotionally and medically, it was not a chance I was willing to take and my OB fully agreed with me.

  • Yes I'm scheduled for my csection October 2,2013 which also is my husbands birthday. He wants to share that special day with our princess :)
  • My RCS is scheduled for Dec. 9th.
  • Although I haven't completely decided, I think this one will be a scheduled repeat c-section at 39 weeks.

  • I am due in Jan, but am having a scheduled c-section before Christmas in Dec ( don't know the exact date yet). This is because my uterus tore, so just like my last pregnancy, this baby will be taken out at 36 weeks. I am pretty sure they can't deny you of having another c section, though I could be wrong. I know it can be risky to have a VBAC. However if I were in your shoes and was a actually able to try and go through labor again, then I think I would take the opportunity to finally be able to experience it, but that's just me Good luck :)

  • I'm definitely scheduling and lucky my dr agrees. Don't want to go through the same traumatic labor again without knowing if either my baby and I are going to make it.

  • I would prefer to go natural.  I will be given the opportunity to do so pending I do so prior to 39 weeks.  It sucks but I'll take it.  I would like to avoid a c-section this time around as it will be really hard to heal with a toddler and an infant.
