Re: Corsetting after CSection

  • That's a talk to your doctor kind of thing.  However, I can't imagine wanting to for a very long time.

  • Corsett with strings or a bellyband elastic with velcro? Did the second for the first few days. Felt like it helped for maneuvering around, but stopped it once went home because it was folding over on itself (have a short torso) and digging into ribs ans hips where was bugging me. I asked the nurse for one whuch she provided. The dr asked why I had it though. So dont know official reccomendation. Have heard corsetts in general can mess things up if worn for any extended time.

This. I had my last c-section almost two weeks ago, and I can't imagine wanting anything remotely tight anywhere near me yet. I just started wearing yoga pants yesterday, before that it was either a dress or nightgown. Are you wanting to do it to reshape your stomach? I know a lot of people think their stomach won't return to normal after a c-section, and it's just not true. At least for most woman. My stomach is already flat again (and it was my third c-section), which I know is rare this early. but still everything I have ever read says your stomach muscles will recover the same if you had a vaginal birth or c-section, and how long it takes to go down should be the same either way and is just up to the way each woman recovers. for some woman it's a matter of days, while others can take much longer.

I'm 4 weeks PP and I had high hopes of using body shapers and the like after delivery... yeah right.  My stomach was so distended because of gas after my c/s that I couldn't even get the belly binder on until a week PP.  The hospital gave me a binder with a velcro closure that I could only wear for a few days - it was really long and just didn't fit right.  I bought a Squeem corset/shaper thing that is still too small (which is disappointing...).  I've had better luck using shaper panties with a high lycra/spandex content.
  • I started wearing the Belly Bandit 1 week after my c-section for a few hours a day. I really liked it, it helped my lower back pain and helped me remember to take it easy on my abs.

The hospital put an elastic belly binder on me immediately in the recovery room and I wore it pretty much 24 hours a day for the first 2 weeks. I felt like it REALLY helped a lot with getting my body / organs back where they belonged much faster than with my first c/s.
