I feel so dumb, but I took the padding off my Chicco Keyfit car seat to wash, and now I can not figure out how to get it back on. Well I have it on, but not secured all the way. I have googled and youtubed and looked in the manual and it does not go over how to get it back on.
There are these circular rubber black bands that go around the handle, and I can't seem to get them on. I took off the canopy and that didn't help. Do they just go under the handle and not actually around the handle?
And then there are these plastic flaps attached to the padding, that you are just suppose to push up underneath the back of the seat I think? I did the top one, but cannot get the side ones to fit in.
Can someone help me or tell me what I am doing wrong?
I blame pregnancy twin brain.
Re: How to put Chicco Keyfit padding back on car seat??
The elastic loops near the handle go into that deep recess just under where the handle joins the carseat body. There is a metal hook on the cover that catches the loop in front of the handle.
The plastic tabs just fold under the lip. If you're having trouble getting a good fit, smooth and stretch out the cover before trying to pull it over. Make sure you've pulled all the harness pieces through before fastening the cover. Air dry cover after washing to avoid shrinkage/melting issues in the dryer. Also after re-covering, check behind the carseat to make sure the harness straps are securely slipped over the metal Y-piece and are not twisted anywhere in their path.
