Netflix/Hulu: I know we've talked about it before but...

I wasn't paying attention... We're looking for ways to cut costs...And the only channel that's ever on here is Disney Jr...

Can some wise woman tell me how you like each of these? The combo? Will I still get Disney Jr?!?!

Obviously I will need Hallmark/Lifetime for Christmas movies...But that's really all I need in life.

  • I am so glad you have your priorities straight with that last part.  If you can't get those movies I would say, forget it.  Pay a billion dollars a month just to make sure.

I have to agree here.  What will you do without The Case For Christmas?

  • Thanks Jodie! That was incredibly helpful in explaining the difference to me! I really never knew!

But seriously... Do Disney Jr., Lifetime and Hallmark exist on Hulu/Netflix?

  • I don't know about Disney Jr but there are a lot of kids shows and Disney movies on Netflix.

What I can tell from the little bit of browsing I've done, no, they don't. Cable channels don't exist on Hulu. Netflix could have the movies, but you'd just have to search and see. We have a Roku to stream our Netflix and Hulu and there's other channels available through it, like we could subscribe to Baby First TV for like 4 dollars a month, so you could possibly get your channels that way but I don't know because I haven't looked into it. I will say we get a TON of kids shows between Netflix and Hulu. The only one I've looked for and not found was Sofia the First. We watch a lot of sesame street anyway. ETA: In regards to cable channels, my H can't watch Duck Dynasty and almost keeled over dead when he found out. I miss foodnetwork when I'm bored and just want the tv on, but I've been happy we made the switch.

I browsed the networks available on Hulu Plus and I do see Lifetime (which means I can watch my Christmas movies), I will leave out the information about Duck Dynasty though... That might end our marriage.

We have Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. Between all of these I get to watch new shows (Hulu), Old Shows and awesome movies (Netflix) and Lifetime, Bravo etc (Amazon Prime). Amazon is also where I get Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Amazon does have you pay per episode or season depending on the show or movie, but also has some content included in the subscription cost. It's also great because I get two day shipping on anything PRIME eligible on Amazon.

We've saved over $150 each month over cable by doing this and that's including the internet cost.

Hope that helps! It was hard to get used to for like 18 seconds, but now I don't think I'll ever switch back to cable. Ever.

I have Prime! I had no idea you could get shows too!!!!  Oh snap. Definitely switching now.

    Thanks!
