Is anyone else drinking stinging nettle and red raspberry leaf tea? My midwife recommended it, but I haven't found one I like aside from the Earth Mama Angel Baby Third Trimester tea. The only thing that worries me is that it's marketed for use during the third trimester and I'm only sixteen weeks along. What do you guys think? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Here's the ingredient list:
I drank RRL tea starting in the third tri. If I remember correctly they say to avoid it in first tri but after that is is safe to use. Since your MW recommended it you should be fine.
I stuck with 1 cup in first tri of RRL, 2 cups in second and 3+ in third. It tones your uterus and is really good for you. Just don't drink really strong infusions until further along.
Nettle is awesome though. Drink lots. It has a lot of iron in it.
I buy my dried leaves in bulk and then make my own. I do strong infusions (boil water, throw in a handful of leaves, leave it for the day, strain and refrigerate) and drink it as an iced tea. I usually add a hint of honey for sweetness when it's hot. I prefer it that way to a hot tea. It's stronger too (and cheaper!) to buy the dried leaves in bulk.
I drank it from about week 17 on with no issues. Really, your uterus is contracting constantly pretty much from the moment you get pregnant so drinking RRL won't cause your body to do anything it's not already doing. I stuck with one cup until a couple of weeks ago when I went up to two. So I'd say go ahead and enjoy a cup a day.

Stinging nettle is good for liver support, and i've never heard that it is contraindicated during (any stage of) pregnancy. I'd ask your mw about that specific ingredient list, but my guess is that RRL is generally considered safe during 3rd tri, but not everyone believes research supports that it is safe throughout pregnancy. I have been drinking this since ~10 weeks, approved my mw https://www.yogiproducts.com/products/details/womans-mother-to-be/

The nettle is great for all of pregnancy for the vitamins and minerals, but I really don't start RRL until 3rd tri. I don't have the position that it's unsafe at all in early pregnancy, but feel it's most useful at the end. I really need to get on that this time...I have a loose leaf blend from mountain rose herbs, that has RRL and nettle.
I have been drinking RRL tea since I POS. I have also been drinking nettle. I make both into strong infusions by boiling water, throwing in some honey, a handful of the dried leaves and letting sit for the day. Then I strain and refrigerate. In the winter, I was drinking it warm and I would just brew it like loose leaf. I buy my leaves in bulk as it's cheaper and they are all organic.
Nettle has a lot of iron in it, which I need because I am anemic, but my MW was happy that I was drinking both from the start.
The rule I've followed is 1 cup/day of RRLT in first tri, 2 cups/day in the second and 3+ in the third. I didn't start drinking the stronger infusions until 3rd tri though.
