Separating twins

The twins are my only children, so for the first time ever my parents took my daughter for 2 nites to spoil her while I just had my son. It's so eerily quiet and not as exciting as having the two. It is so much less work but its just not the same! I wanted to feel what it would be lime just having one and going on errands was so much easier! We miss her though! Anyone separate them like this? Can't wait to see her today!

Re: Separating twins

  • Never overnight but frequently DH will take one and I take one to do separate errands, etc.  It's a nice break but I always feel a little bad when people fawn over one twin, I feel like I need to point out that she is a twin

Pretty much what I 'think' though last fall my husband and I both had to work and ended up having to send one son to a grandma and the other to a family friend for the whole day. I think I was more distraught about it than they were :/

God gave me a double portion for my inheritance with my little Mighty men :) 9/19/10 Baby A born at 1:47 am 6lbs 14oz, 20.5inches long. Baby B born at 3:20 am 6lbs 6oz, 19.5inches long. My double blessing!:)

  • Like another poster, I will often take one of them to the grocery store or something while DH has the other.  I take turns who goes with.  I think they like the 1x1 time.  I enjoy it, also.  But yes - once I have them back together, it's the best.  And it's never even more than a couple of hours at a time.

    Enjoy reuniting!

  • The only times my boys have been apart overnight was when one of them was in the hospital, but I love being able to give them one on one time when possible. It doesn't happen often though.

I just wrote about this the other day. I also was curious what it would be like to separate them for a little bit, so I sent one baby to ride in the tractor with DH while he planted beans for a couple of hours. I actually didn't really enjoy it because I was thinking about her sister and wondering about her every 2.2 seconds! I was relieved to have her back home. Haha! Oh well, at least I tried.

We have never separated then overnight but we often run errands with only one. I feel the exact same way when people fawn over just one. I find myself saying something like we snuck away from brother to go run errands or something.

I is easier running errands by myself with only one but it still feels off. I have come to like the chaos and its truly our new normal.
