Early spotting w/ twins

Hey there I had light pink spotting on Saturday (5w5d) and it was just in the morning 1 time but I freaked out and went to the ER (we're in Florida on vacation) they said my cervix is closed and they confirmed TWO sacs with TWO heartbeats :) we were both very happy and it was a great moment ...

 Fast forward to today 6w1d I had bright red spotting/bleeding when I wiped and over the last few hours has changed to brown with clumps.

Has anyone had this? I'm worried all over again. I know the Progesterone injections can cause discharge I'm just worried about the blood coming and going. We did a lot of walking at Sea World yesterday I wonder if that did it?

1st Beta: 1046!!!!! - 2nd Beta: 2754!!!!!
First u/s 7/11/2013 - TWINS!!! 120 and 124 heartbeats <3
Second u/s 7/29/2013 - wiggley babies! 178 and 184 heartbeats!
Third u/s 9/9/2013 - 157 and 161 heartbeats ... a BOY and a GIRL!!!! Cervix on the "shorter side" (3-3.3) - going to check again in 2 weeks.
Fourth u/s 9/23/2013 - Baby A = 157 Baby B = 150 heartbeat. Cervix now 2.3-2.6 ... being referred to a MFM
MFM Appointment 9/26/2013 = Both babies healthy, cervix now measuring at 4 - Playing tricks on me ... will follow up in 2 weeks.
Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm  --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29

    I'm not sure about progesterone, but I had spotting pink, brown, and red from 5 weeks until about 11 weeks. I was told pink and brown are ok as brown is most likely old blood. If you have a lot of red bleeding then I would get checked. Since you just saw both heartbeats that is a great sign. If yu did a lot of walking that could cause it or make it worse. My suggestion is to REST and not overdo it!!

    I had a m/c @ 6 w pg. It started with brown spotting for a few days, then pink. I got pg with my twins 6w after my m/c. I had my HCG and progesterone checked and all was good. A couple of weeks later, I began to spot. I demanded to have my progesterone checked again. It was 19. Still a good number,but it shouldn't have gone down from the 27 it was the first time. Dr put me on oral progesterone. I did continue to spot off and on (even bright red) for weeks. We never found a cause and my twins are 7 now. Hang in there.

    i had bright red, pinkish, and brownish spotting for 3 weeks early on...I'd call it somewhere between spotting and bleeding. Mt drs never did fully diagnose why it was happening, other than to say I had an "irritable cervix" and the progesterone suppositories and applicator could be causing it to bleed. I was also (unknown to me) carrying triplets, and more eggs implanting can cause more bleeding, but you're past that at 6 w already. I can't promise you everything will be OK, but I did learn that worrying never helps. You have to do what you can, and trust that it will all work out (easy for me to say NOW I know, but you can do this.) When you are worried, call the drs, demand appointments, etc. Peace of mind is worth nagging them over. GOOD LUCK

    Thank you everyone .. The red spotting was around 1pm today and quickly turned to brown which has stayed brown through the night tonight just less and less of it.  We are flying home tomorrow and we have scheduled an appointment for Thursday morning. WhooSahhh...

    I had pink and brown spotting at the beginning of my pregnancy. turned out baby b had a small bleed in his sac, and after a couple weeks, it was fine. i'm almost 30 weeks pregnant now and babies are measuring almost exactly the same size, so far everything looks great.

     

    sending vibes to you that this goes away soon! :) and babies are perfect.

    I spotted through til 11 weeks, no injections on me... freaked me out too

    That's reassuring ... Thanks a ton! There isn't much info about what to expect when you're having twins except m/c is higher ... Never fun to read those and it certainly doesn't help.

    I spotted from Week 7 through Week 13 pretty consistently.  Mostly it was stringy brown or watery brown but I woke up a couple of mornings with heavier brown/red.  All my ultrasounds have been fine and my doctor said that sometimes it just happens.  Have you been having a lot of ST since you are on vacation?  That could definitely cause it.  I wouldn't worry since you just had a reassuring scan.  See your doctor when you get back.  You will have to go on pelvic rest  until you have not spotted for at least 10 days (I would start now if you haven't already.)
