I just joined this Board after my first IVF cycle was unsuccessful. I'll be back at it with a FET in September. Occasionally I Google IVF news and today I found this. It basically says best rest immediately after a transfer and the following days is not necessary. I bed rested for two days, but got up immediately after transfer. I also did acupuncture before and after transfer. Curious what you ladies did/recommend? I want to do the right thing for the FET!
Wishing success for all of you.

Re: Bed Rest - Interesting Article
Yet another example of how much of a crapshoot IF treatment is!
I am at a "non-bedrest" clinic...
Me: 31, PCOS DH: 37, low morph and low counts
IVF #1 Lupron/GonalF (Dec 2012)= 30R, 21M, 21F with ICSI, 18 HIP frosties!!!
FET in August 2013
It's so crazy how much it varies. I got up immediately after the transfer (with my RE's blessing, of course) because I have never had to pee so badly in my life. But, then he made me lay down for 20 minutes and do bed rest for 2 days. It didn't work.
Now of course all I wonder about is whether I should have ran to the bathroom like I did right afterwards....so many what ifs when you have a failed cycle, that's for sure.

My RE has me lay down for 15-20 minutes immediately after the transfer. Then it's 36 hours of bed rest, but not strict. He says on day of transfer, to rest 90% of the time, the day after rest 60% of the time, and two days after to rest 30% of the time.
After my IVF transfer, I made myself stay on bed rest for 3 days, even though I didn't have to. I had a BFP but miscarried. For this FET, I wasn't nearly as strict with myself. I took it easy, but got up from the couch more often and walked around. It's a BFP, so who really knows what's best to do! Thanks for the article.
Also, I'm so sorry your cycle didn't work.

EDD 3/9/14
My RE also had me lay on the stretcher for approximately 20 mins immediately after the transfer.
Short version... had to stay laying down for 5 min immediately after transfer and then bed rest for 24hrs. Could sit on couch if you used an ottoman and kept legs up.
I really think it's prob not helpful. But I think its good to take a day to be lazy after all we go thru w/ IF on top of our daily lives. I honestly think staying as positive and stress free as possible is more important than bed rest.
I did, however, lay there for 30 min immediately following transfer.

For both of my transfers, I had to lie down for 10 minutes after transfer, then I got up to pee. I went out to lunch, then went home and watched TV, but was not on bedrest. I went to work the next day. Both transfers were BFPs (they were miscarriages, but that is likely chromosomal and is not related to activity after transfer).
I think the bed rest thing is BS.
