We had our first trimester screen today and I was so nervous! Turned out to be one of the best days of the pregnancy to date! It was so amazing to see LO in such detail and such a relief to see that all parts are where they should be, developing correctly and all of that! I had to look away for a while when they were measuring the space behind the neck because I kept giggling- such a cute baby and moving all over the place! Simply amazing! They said the measurements all look fine but now we wait for the blood test results.
Now my questions- is it normal to have an anatomy scan done at the MFM dr? I had been under the impression that it would be with my OB. Is that because we conceived through IVF?
Also, are others who conceived through IVF suggested to have an echo at 22 weeks? I know I read at least one other person on here but I wasn't sure if that was the exception or the norm.
Thanks everyone!
Re: Amazing appointment! And some questions...
Congrats on such a great appt! I think it is pretty common to have the NT scan done at the MFM office (for all pregnancies, not just IVF pregnancies). MFM offices usually have genetic counselors (whereas most OB practices do not) and higher resolution ultrasounds.
For the echo, it seems like some OBs order those for IVF pregnancies, but I think most OBs only order an echo if another ultrasound turns up something concerning.
BFP on Cycle #8. Natural M/C at ~8 weeks
IUI #1 and #2 (8/12, 9/12)- 50 mg Clomid + Ovidrel = BFNs
IVF #1 (EPP) 13R/10M/9F, 5DT 1-4AA blast, beta #1-148, beta #2-322, 5 frosties!
That's great that your appointment went so well!
My NT and anatomy scans were both at the MFM (and I also had 3 cervical checks there). I did not conceive through IVF. My OB sends everyone to the MFM at the hospital because they have better equipment than at the OB's office. I don't know about the echo.
