toddler bed vs twin bed

My LO is still in her crib but she has begun the climbing stage and I have walked in on her pulling herself up on the rails. I am so nervous about her getting hurt! That being said, I want to wait until as long as possible before I move her to a big girl bed. But I l Iike to plan ahead so  I was just curious if anybody else had been looking at toddler beds ahead of time? I am wondering if it would be better to just get a twin bed and buy rails for it? Which did you or are you planning to buy? Thanks! :)

    DS1 went straight from a crib to a twin bed.  We didn't do rails.  His bed has a trundle bed under it so we pulled that out for the first few nights (other side is against the wall) in case he rolled off but he never did.  I didn't see the need to add an extra transition by going from crib to toddler bed to big bed.

    We went from crib to twin bed with rails. She did just fine and we saved the $$ instead of buying a toddler bed.

    We are doing toddler beds because the cribs convert by taking the side off so nothing new to purchase and no need for a rail

    LO's crib came with a toddler rail to convert to a toddle bed -so we went that route first.  Maily because that is what we had the night we decided he needed to be out of his crib because he had fallen one to many times.

    He was in his toddler bed for about a year. 

    We moved him to a twin bed recently and was fine.  I'm sure looking back he could have moved right to a twin bed, but we didnt' have that already and the toddler bed conversion was super easy. 

    If you don't alreay own some sort of toddler bed and would need to buy it, I would just skip it and go to the twin bed.  But if you already own it, you can go either way.

    You can just put the crib mattress on the floor
