Is this weird?

So I'm moving 7 hours away and will need a new doc. I got a recommendation from someone and called the office. Before I can set up an appointment the doc wants to look over my records and decided if he wants to even take me on. Is this weird??

Re: Is this weird?

  • If you are high risk or something he might not be able to handle, he may refer you to someone else.

  • It's not weird, some doctors have certain restrictions on things they can work with and not.. I wanted to have a midwife but they wouldn't accept me because I have twins :[
  • Not at all. I had some bleeding in the 8th week of this pregnancy and when i went to the ED I found out that I have 4 fibroids in utero with baby. When I called my first OB choice he said the same thing so I decided to go with my current doc who didn't need to do all that. I was very concerned and wanted to be seen asap.
  • Not really. I agree with op about high risk etc...
  • Pretty normal for a lot of doctors offices. They go over everything and decide if your case is something they can handle, help with and what not. I worked in an allergy office, so this was standard practice for us.

  • Thank you ladies!! I'm a FTM and having to switch doc over halfway through is a little scary for me. Appreciate it again!!
