Coming off pelvic rest...

I am coming off pelvic rest & also modified bed rest for a SCH.  2w1d spot free! Woot!  Walked two miles yesterday and plan to do that EOD for a week and then if all is well move up to more intense cardio EOD, and finally EOD.  Fingers crossed!

For those that came off pelvic rest, how long did you wait to have sex?  I'm really paranoid and may wait until I'm 3 weeks spot free. Were you more sensitive?  Did the spotting return post sex?

Thanks!

  • Congrats! That's a really good sign that you were so active and the spotting didn't come back. Fingers crossed it continues to stay away!

I waited a little over a month to have sex after I stopped spotting from my SCH <shameface>. That was a combo of my still having m/s and not being in the mood, and admittedly being nervous that I would start spotting again. But we finally did it and it was just like normal (well, much better than normal considering it had been a while!!). No spotting at all either post sex.

Being a military wife, I translated EOD into explosive ordnance device before realizing it was every other day. I was so confused for about 3 seconds lol.

I'm so glad you are spot free! I had to do it twice and I was more sensitive during sex. Start slow lol.

    Me too haha!

OP I'm glad that you are coming off of pelvic rest!! :)

  • That's great news VC!!

  • yay! Happy for you!!! For my SCH, I was put on pelvic rest for 4 weeks from when the spotting stopped. By the time I saw my Dr to make sure it was ok to come off pelvic rest, I had been spot free for 4.5 weeks. So that's how long I went without sex. I haven't spotted from sex or exercise (which is running). Good luck!

Did the spotting return post sex?

My spotting returns every time we have sex. I have almost given up.

  • Once the two weeks was up and we were in the clear we had sex.  I didn't have any spotting after.  I only had a couple hours of spotting after being off pelvic rest, but it was a week after that.  Nothing since then.

Good luck and glad the SCH is clearing up, those are scary.

  • I'm on rest for a SCH right now and my dr told me that after 2 weeks of no spotting we could try to have sex, wait 1 week to make sure spotting didn't come back and then act like normal. Sadly I made it to 1.5 weeks and then started spotting again.
  • Right on!!!

I have no insight on the pelvic rest question.

  • Glad you are off pelvic rest!! Since your dr cleared you it should be safe to have sex now, but I think you should wait until you feel comfortable doing it. If you would feel better waiting 3 weeks then wait. I can understand why you are hesitant.

I am pelvic rest for the next 4 weeks due to spotting, cramping, and a low laying placenta.
