Beach Vacation with LO

DH and I are taking DD to the beach for 1 week in August daycare is closed for the week. I would like some advice, ideas, do's/don'ts, etc from those of you who have BTDT. The condo we rented is within a block of the beach so we can just walk up to the beach as we want. What worked or didn't work for you when you took LO to the beach? TIA!

  • Strollers and sand don't work well, a sled works better to pull stuff or back packs.

  • We've done a few trips and I can tell you that baby will be ALL OVER the place. He didn't want to really sit and play at this age. He ran around the beach, splashed in the water, anything but sitting and relaxing. :)  I recommend a GOOD beach umbrella for naps and getting out of the sun for a bit. The cheap ones still allow sun and you can get a burn while under "shade" if it's not a quality umbrella.

Oh, and the spray suncreen is great for their head if they refuse to keep their hat on like my son.

     Have fun!

  • We went last month and are going again in a few weeks. I bought a three sided tent big enough to nurse her with some privacy. She also slept on a big beach towel in the tent for about 90 minutes, so I definitely recommend an easy pop up tent. It was breezy and comfortable inside. It also kept our books and snacks from blowing around.

We also brought a tiny blow up pool with some fresh water to keep her cool and so she could splash around without us chasing her into the ocean.

She ate some sand and drank some ocean water, but loved every minute of it :
