Natural Birth

Hello Ladies!

I just wanted to say hello :) I am a FTM planning to have a natural birth with a midwife at a hospital...and I have to say I'm getting to the point where I'm a little nervous! I've been reading posts that have been very encouraging; It is nice to have a place to ask questions and get some encouragement.  Thank you for being inspirational ladies! I hope to contribute as well :)

Re: Hello Ladies!

  • Welcome! Our due dates are very close.  You can do it! Are you reading birth stories? I love reading those during pregnancy, and it gives you a wide range of how natural births can go.  Check out birthing without fear online. Tons of birth stories there.

  • You can do it!  I know I was nervous as a FTM.  You have no idea what labor will be like and what to expect.  Try to stay positive and surround yourself with encouraging people and birth stories. You can do it and you will do it  GL!
  • You can do it! I had a hospital birth with a midwife for my first and I'm planning the same for this baby. I agree that reading birth stories was really helpful. Right now I'm reading "Baby Catcher: Chronicles of a Modern Midwife" by Peggy Vincent and I really love it! My main thought reading it is that we have forgotten how strong and capable women are at giving birth. Trust your body and believe that you are strong, because you are!

  • I am also a FTM and am planning a hospital water birth with a midwife.  I am also in week 31 (I never got around to creating a ticker).  Congrats on your little one!

  • Ftm here too, almost 37 weeks. I've been watching some powerful water birth videos on YouTube to help remind me that its possible and not as scary as we are lead to believe!

And l need to re read Ina may gaskins books for some crunchy inspiration!
