AW Most amazing BP coverage!

I just spent a good half hour on the phone with my IL BCBS insurance and am pretty impressed with my breast pump coverage.

I'm allowed to rent a hospital grade for 12 months and up to $1000 in expense, including supplies. PLUS, they will cover the purchase of a double electric pump, no costs restrictions/maximum, including supplies!

There's also no restriction on when I can buy it - I can get it now or after baby.

Doing a little happy dance :-) what a financial difference this will be from 2 years ago when I had to rent a hospital grade out of pocket for 6 mons.

I just had to AW here because I'm at work with all 50+ yr olds who couldn't care less...

    That is incredible, although is there any reason you would need to rent one AND buy one? I suppose if it covers rental AND purchase, it would be worth renting for 12 months and then buying after that so you have the warranty on the new one for as long as possible...

    I have a Freestyle in storage I was hoping to reuse, though I haven't checked it in 1.5 years.  If it's all good, I actually don't need to buy one this time around - though I may get more supplies which are now supposed to be covered.

    But, I did buy and rent one for my first DD. I was an exclusive pumper and used the hospital rental while at home (I was a SAHM with her). But it's huge and not easy to travel with, especially air travel. I bought a Freestyle before I even had DD and learned I'd be an EPer, so I used that when I traveled or was out of the house longer than 2-3 hours. So,...there are reasons you'd want to have both if you're an EPer...which I'm desperately hoping to avoid this time around.

    That's awesome! I need to call my insurance and check on this. I've been putting it off because I know my insurance co and I fully suspect they will be like eff you when I ask about breast pump coverage and then I'll just be annoyed. My PISA was on it's last legs when I last pumped over 3 years ago.
