Stroller recommendations for 1 year old

I have a Maxi Cosi Foray stroller that I really don't like anymore, I bought it when it was half price so am able to sell it for what I paid. The only loss would be the tax I paid on top of it (13%). So I'm looking to replace it and not sure what to go with. The only thing I really liked about the Foray was it's ease to push and maneuverability and the handle is adjustable for tall parents. I have the Maxi Cosi Pearle umbrella stroller which I keep in the trunk that I use for errands but would like a stroller that I can leave in the garage to go for walks. What I dislike about the Foray:

*no child tray/or even a parent tray (just a drink holder)

*small basket which is hard to get to

*small sun visor

*that the seat is all one piece, so you can't recline just the back or just adjust the foot rest, you have to move the whole seat which is hard to do when the child is in it

*sometimes I take it to the park (which I have to drive to) and its a pain in the butt to fold up

Would have $200 from the sale of the Foray to put towards another stroller, am considering used off of Kijiji (like craigslist) but open to new as well.  We are in Canada and also 45 minutes to the border so could drive to Michigan if there are any deals there.

Thanks for any insight. I keep wondering if I should just keep it till he outgrows it and if I'm making the right decision but then if I don't like it why keep it.

Re: Stroller recommendations for 1 year old

  • We have a city mini and I really like it. Its very easy to push and the easiest I've seen to fold up. It doesn't come with accessories but you can buy things like the child tray and parent console separately. They are easy to take on and off. The shade is gigantic and it is easy to recline the seat while the child is in it. The basket is small and hard to get to, but I bought stroller hooks and just use those to hang the diaper bag and anything else on.

  • For a stroller that is kept in the garage and used for walks, I would get something all terrain with air filled tires, like bumbleride indie, bob revolution, baby jogger city elite, etc

I love my City Elite. It's a super smooth ride and so comfortable to push plus it has a 75 pound weight limit, so it'll definitely have longevity. It also has the great BJ one hand fold, which is one of the best features IMO.

That is the one thing that I love about the Foray is the air filled tires.  The ride is so smooth. I wonder if I should just suck it up and keep it. But someone has made an offer to buy it. I will look into these strollers you recommended. Thanks for all the input so far everyone!!

I want to love the City Mini, but I am so spoiled by air tires, im not sure I could go back. I would look at the Bumbleride. I absolutely love my Indie Twin

  • The Foray is such a wobbly stroller, anything would be better. I played with it in store and it has a heck of a sway to it.

Second hand (or new if you can swing). Bumbleride Indie, City Elite (I'd nix the Mini if you're walking outside other than summer hear. Fucking awful in snow), Mountain Buggy (any), Phil and Teds Sport/Dash/Classic/Dot/Navigator/S4, Mamas and Papas Sola, Bob, Mountain Equipment Coop/Running Room Jogger, or Valco Baby Trimode.

I am too! We went to Saturday Market a couple of weeks ago with my son and DH wanted to use an umbrella stroller his mom has b/c he thought the City Mini would be too big in a really small, crowded psace. DS fussed in the stroller and seemed uncomfortable in it. The next day I took him to the Coast to visit some friends, and we walked all over downtown in his City Mini. He was really comfortable and didn't strain to get out like he had in the umbrella stroller. I have a Diono Stroller Buddy parent console ($10 or so on Amazon) that's great for holding keys and a drink for me. We haven't bought the child tray yet but there is one available. The basket underneath isn't super easy to access, but we can fit our diaper bag in it plus a few toys for DS.

I think the City Mini is so overrated.  If I wanted something like that, I would get the Valco Snap.  It sounds to me like you want air tires and I think it will be hard to love a non air tire stroller when you've seen how awesome air tires are.  I would do the Indie if I was you.  It's not as big as the BOB but still really nice and you can jog with it.

The Indie Twin is awesome. I did tons and tons of research. The Bumbleride is pricier than most other options, but it comes with all of the accessories. That makes the price around the same.
