Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

headbutting?

My 15 month old has this weird headbutting thing. If she's mad or overtired she starts headbutting the floor, which of course makes her cry. She also headbutts me sometimes thinking she's playing (I swear she's going to break my nose my day).

I don't know what started this or how to make it stop. She's been doing it for a few months now. I'm hoping it's a phase because she does seem to be doing it less but I'm just at a loss on how to get her to stop.

Is anyone else dealing with a headbutting toddler?

DS started doing this too. I tell him to stop and say "be nice" which he understands. I just keep redirecting and trying to stop it when I seenbsp;him doing it.

I try this too. I'm just glad to know my kiddo isn't the only one

my DD does this head 'wiggling' thing when she is trying to go to sleep, if she is in my arms. and today just started headbutting the wall for no apparent reason.

  • My gosh - you guys have made me feel so much better!  One of my 14 month old twins has been doing this for months now.   She's getting better about headbutting the floor when she's upset but she headbutts her sister all the time(on her head, back, legs, etc.)  She's done it to the couch and other things too.  I don't think it's always a frustrated thing.  It seemed like she thought it was a nice thing if she'd be gentle about it.  I continue to try to correct it but nothing helps.  I keep hoping she'll grow out of it soon.
