DD is refusing cows milk. She started refusing her formula and bottles last week and since she turned one on Saturday we went ahead and moved on to cows milk. She had her one year check up today and the dr said she needs to be drinking 18 to 24 ounces of milk. I'm lucky if she drinks 8. The dr said I could mix chocolate or strawberry syrup in her milk to get her to drink it. I tried chocolate today and she didn't like that either. Any suggestions??? I need help!

Re: Refusing cows milk also posted on 9 to 12
There are some ladies on my PAL FB group that have used milk alternatives for various reasons...I want to say things like almond milk and the like. Hopefully one of them will chime in.
ETA: They don't need to get all their calcium/fats in the form of WCM. Maybe while she's in milk refusal mode focus on sneaking in things like yogurt and cheeses to get those quantities.

DD has never drank full cow's milk. The few times she has taken sips, she gets mucousy poos and seems completely disgusted by it.
I ran it by the doctor and they said try 2%, try soy milk, try anything with calcium and vitamin D.
I have her drinking Lactose Free whole cow's milk 3 parts with 1 part water to cut down the creaminess. For the first time ever, she drank almost 8 oz tonight! She will also drink vanilla soy milk once in a while.
I give her a full fat baby organics yogurt every single morning for the calcium and give her cheese quite a bit too.
I find the whole milk situation odd. In theory, humans were never meant to drink cow's milk and there is a whole slew of ways that a person can get the fats, calcium and vitamins.
I am lactose intolerant and my mom said I rejected cow's milk too. Not saying that every rejection from a baby is a food intolerance or allergy, but it is something to think about in the cases of something like dairy.
Cows milk is convenient for fat, calories, calcium and vitamin D...but kids don't have to have it. DS has dairy sensitivities and drinks enriched almond or coconut milk but for one cup of formula at night (we're still transitioning off formula after his last round of allergy tests). He gets calcium and vitamin D supplements in gummy form (loves them) and from other foods.
Also, if you went " cold turkey" to milk, rather than transitioning slowly, LO might be protesting the change in general. Good luck!

I haven't tried it yet myself, but my friend had the same problem with her daughter. She found that if she mixed in a little bit of the liquid yogurt (I think it is Danamals?) in with her milk she loved it.
