My mom, who is plus sized, told me she always just used a lazy boy that rocked. She just bought one for us as well. I am smaller, but I still think it will be SUPER comfy with a nursing baby!
im not a huge fan of gliders. DH and i decided to buy a rocking & reclining lazy boy which is very roomy and so much comfier than most gliders. its a bit pricey but we plan on using it in the living room after baby grows up.

We are doing this too. I've seen a ton of gliders for sale at used shops and yard sales this summer, which made me think they aren't worth the purchase. I'd rather have a rocker/recliner that lasts if I'm spending that kind of money.
I haven't found any which is partly why I refuse to buy one. I have wide hips/big thighs so the seat part is always a tight fit.
I know what you mean. In babies r us they have most of them out so I've found a couple comfy ones but they're pricey. Target has a bunch at a more reasonable price but you can't try them out in store so I'm hesitant.
Seriously, that was not what I meant at all. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I had like 4 hrs of sleep last night and my brain is fried. I would never say that to anyone, ever!!!
I'm not plus sized, but DH is a 3X. We needed to find a glider that would work for my petite frame and his larger hips. We ended up choosing one that looks more like a living room chair. It's big, cushy, and a coudoroy brown. We got a matching ottoman to go with it. I wish I knew the brand to tell you, but we got it on Craigslist for an awesome deal. It was in like new condition and the previous owner still had the receipt where he paid 550 for it. We got it for 250, including the ottoman.

Haha. I'm not offended. It was pretty late for me too when I read it so I definitely laughed harder than I should have, but as I was reading I was trying to envision getting up to nurse and putting spanx on first lol.
Honestly H and I bought one from Walmart and it's super comfy. We bought it before baby like a year ago as an extra chair and it's still doing fine. H is a bigger guy and he's also over 6 foot and he still thinks it's comfy. It seems wider to me but then again I have tested out others.
BRU has a few non-traditional glider options. More like big comfy fall-in and nap chairs that glide.
The chair we have is 4 years old and we found it online and didn't try it out first. I hate it. So I went to BRU with a coupon last week and ordered a big comfy chair. It's plenty big for plus-sizers. And comfy too.

I've seen a lot of posts about Walmart ones in the past, but I'm hesitant because I can't try it out. Do you know what brand/model you bought?

Ours is similar to this one color and things are different. The only thing I don't like about ours is the fabric color is changing from people sitting in it. For the price it's really nice and H put it together no problem.

I just went to Costco this past weekend and there was a lovely all plush glider that was really nice and wide. I think it was $299, which is about $200 cheaper the the BRU same style chairs. It was very comfy!!

You know, someone else mentioned getting their nursery furniture at Costco and I was wondering if they'd have gliders too. Thanks for that! I'm going to check the store out and see what they have. Their website is always so much more pricey.

I am totally using MH's old lazy boy! He was so bummed when we couldn't find a place for it in the living room and is stoked it will work perfectly in the baby's room!
Also, I've been so worried trying to figure out a place to fit a glider in our bedroom, or even in our living room, that I haven't even thought to worry about whether or not my butt would fit in it. Oops.
Our nursery is a decent sized room, but I'm worried about cluttering it up with too much furniture. As of right now we only have the dresser and crib in, but I think we can get a glider in it and then we will be done. I don't think one of those big spacious one would work too well. Sitting in the different ones in Babies R Us made me realize they're not all made the same either.
Re: Plus Size Friendly Gliders
Have you tried Spanx? I love them and it is well worth the money.
God, ignore me....I swear your post said girdle!!! I just need to go to bed.....

LMAO! I was like did I just read that right? Especially because it came after the wider hips and thighs post! That was funny.
this is what i thought. i almost spit out my water
