3 under 2?!?

New here. Found out today I'm 7w pregnant w twins! I'm excited but overwhelmed at the thought. I have a 4 year old daughter and a 1 year old daughter now. My 1 yo will be around 19-20 months when twins arrive. Anyone here have advice? I know it's a long way off but I really am just shocked and way overwhelmed. TIA!

  • You've got this, Mama! The noise level is higher, no doubt, but we are having a BLAST with all these little folk! Check out my blog at www.plantedandblooming.com - so many little people to kiss!

  • I am right there with you! We can do this!! I am preparing to keep my running shoes on and mentally prepare for no sleep for a bit...
  • No advice yet, but will probably have some once the twins arrive next week (we have a 22 month old) and have the same situation. :)

  • I'm with you too. My oldest dd is 4, dd2 will be 2 this weekend and my twin girls are due in August. I'm sure we will find a routine. Lots of love in our houses :
  • Thanks y'all! I hope after it sinks in I'm as confident as you guys!

I have been there. Take it one day at a time. You will figure it out and it will be totally natural for you. Congratulations!!
. It was pretty rough at first but you toque out your own way of doing everything.
  • I am in a similar boat I have twins that are 16 months and have another on the way....
  • Our daughter was 19m when the twins were born. It is no cake walk. Hardest thing I feel I'll ever do and I'm 21 months in. There are so many things that we can't do that other families can. It's hard and I'm honestly not handling it well at all right now.

I have faith it'll get easier in a few years, but almost 2 years in and it hasn't.

This scares me. My DS will be 1819 months when my twins are born in November/December.

I'm in a similar boat- my DD will be 14-15 months when our twins are born.  I'm sorry the poster is having a hard time, but it wasn't the time to post that.  The OP was looking for encouragement, which is found in abundance on the MoM board.  I assume no one expecting 3 under 2 is expecting it to be a cake walk.  I'm really nervous, but am doing my best to be as organized as possible and arrange for as much help as possible.  OP- you can do it, stay on this board and you'll get tons of advice.

Ditto that. I mean, it's chaotic, but for us, it HAS been a cake walk. Don't think that just because you have a bunch of tiny ones, it's going to be a nightmare. We are having the time of our lives and I'm pretty sure I could handle four more under 5 right now. Everyone's threshold is different, and you may find that twins are just a blip on your radar. Ours settled in great and it feels like they've always been here.

Wow! I'm kind of in awe of your threshold.

OP, there might be a learning curve, but you'll figure out what works best for your family. Best wishes for a long, healthy pregnancy.

  • I only have the two on the way (only! ha ha!) but I just finished reading a helpful book and the author had a toddler as well, called "Ready or Not, Here we Come!" It was very helpful!

  • We will have a two year old and twins, not quite the same but close in age. I have been leaning on a friend near by, she has a third grader, twins who are 1st graders a 1 year old and one on the way. She will tell you that after adjusting for a few weeks, the twins were actually the easiest! Hang in there, it is so overwhelming, but you can do it, good luck!
  • Thanks, ladies. I appreciate seeing the reality in someone's struggle as much as seeing people who can handle many more children than I can ever imagine having. It's helpful on both accounts. I'm doing my best to focus on work and this one day at a time. I notice my anxiety increase tenfold when I start thinking about things too far out. Just soaking up time with my girls as best as I can right now and seeing pics of cute twin babies really helps, too!
