Boobs are broken

I have been breastfeeding since my son was born and have been pumping as well since I was producing so much milk. I would be able to feed my LO and still pump 6Oz ffom each breast. The past few days I have noticed that I have been less full and my son has been eating more. I tried to pump just now and only got only 3 oz from both sides. I hope I am not losing my supply already.

Anyone have any similar experiences?

  • How old is your LO? Sounds like its only a growth spurt to me. I wouldnt worry.

  • Your LO could just be eating more now. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

He is 2 weeks today. He has already passed his birth weight as well so i guess he is getting something.
  • Your LO is likely way more efficient at your breast than a pump.  What you pump isn't indicative of what LO is getting from BF.
  • It seems like you had an oversupply and still do, just not as much. If you are pumping that much after LO is eating then they are most likely not getting the hind milk which is the fattier better part of the milk. When you breast feed make sure you are only feeding on one side so your baby has a better chance at getting the hind milk. You know if they are getting enough hind milk when the poop is a mustard yellow instead of the greenish/yellow poop you get at first.

This. Don't feed from both sides or baby will only be getting sugary foremilk. You are making a lot of milk! I would stop pumping so much so your body will slow production.
  • 6 oz from EACH??! Tell me your secret! I am lucky to get 3 oz TOTAL when I pump, and that is without mine eating straight from the breast also.

I did have to try and pump more frequently when she went through a growth spurt recently. I also felt like mine were letting me down on the supply.

Glad to know its not just me!
