Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

22 months old - excessive drooling

DS is has always been a drooler, but it seems to be getting worse.  I used to change his shirt halfway through the day, because it would get wet, but today at daycare they to,d me they had to change his shirt 3 times because he drooled so much.  His sister (DS and DD2 are twins) has never had this problem.  I'm planning on bring it up to our doctor on our next visit, but has anyone had this problem?

  • Does he have any teeth coming in? That's always my first thought when Ds starts drooling really bad, and its always the culprit.

  • If he's not teething, consider having him assessed by an OT or SLP for potential oral motor issues. (Our LO has this along with verbal apraxia.) How is he with eating and speaking? Also, do you have a lot of respiratory issues (possibly enlarged tonsils/adenoids)? The later would be assessed by an ENT.
