VBAC

VBAC after 2 CS?

I apologize if this question is a repeat but has anyone attempted vbac after 2 CS?  My first CS was to prevent fetal distress bc they had tried to induce for the previous 24 hours. With my second I found out just before my due date that my hospital would not allow an attempted vbac so it was a scheduled CS.  I really want a third child but I really want to deliver naturally.  I have never dialated above a 1 (which hardly counts) even with being induced and I was full term with both babies. Both babies were over 9lbs.  I have found a new ob who said it was possible but she is over an hour away and so is the hospital. I'm not sure if it is worth it to drive that far because based on my two previous pregnancies my body is not wanting to go into labor and they can't induce.  To break it down:

1)Have you or someone you know attempted vbac after 2 CS?  What was the outcome?

2)Should I stick with the hospital/doctor that are 10 minutes away or take the chance at a vbac and travel farther?

Thank you for any info./imput you may have.

  • I know someone who had a successful VBAC after 3 CS... She swears that a supportive provider, hospital and birth team are key to success. Whatever you have to do to get those will make your chances greater of success... She would tell you to do whatever you have to do to get those things in place.

  • Wow that is very encouraging!  Im thinking the extra driving will be worth it to have the chance at a normal delivery. Thanks so much for the info!

  • I am going to attempt a VBA2C myself. It took getting a lot of rejections, including my OB for my first 2 children, but I finally found a practice that will do it. It's at a different hospital, but only 20 min away, so that's not too bad.

Check out ICAN...and another mom on here recommended a FB Group that has tons of success stories about VBAC in a variety of circumstances. I'll have to look up the name and get back to you since I need to run.

You CAN do it! Good luck!

I'm back! The FB Group name is called...VBAMC, VBAC, HBAC, (Vaginal Birth After one or more c-sections)

Look it up and ask to join, and they will add you. You will get lots of support on there and information, too! Good luck!

  • Me! Me! My labor with DS was completely different that with DD1, like nothing in common.

I read a lot of natural birth and hypnobirthing books to help me learn how to better cope with the pain, etc. and that helped me get to 6 cm before asking for the epi, which I heard through a friend makes you less likely to stall out.

I'd be happy to share my story with you if you are interested :)
